As Defender Burghley Horse Trials come to a close with the final day of competition, Helen is keeping everything crossed!

Helen's Top Tip: To reduce swelling in hot weather, soak hot, tired feet in Bexter crystals.

Add a handful of Bexters Bath Crystals to warm water and enjoy the feeling of relief after a long day. Wriggle the toes and make sure there is sufficient water to cover your ankles.

Free bath crystals
Taking a bath in hot weather might seem counter-intuitive, with many people choosing a cold shower instead.
However, a bath in lukewarm water stimulates the body's natural regulatory systems to release heat from the skin and cool things down.
In contrast, a cold shower can shock the system into generating more heat!
Helen suggests soaking a while in a lukewarm bath before bed which might help improve sleep quality during this exceptionally hot weather. With Men's Health Week (June 15th-21st) still taking up a lot of column inches and air time, it's encouraging to note that in Helen's Bowen therapy clinic about 40 per cent of those seeking her help are male.

We asked Helen to share her thoughts: "Common issues relate to stress, hypertension, sciatica and sports injuries while manual workers of all kinds often struggle with back and shoulder problems, or niggling muscle strain and sprains that simply won't go away.

"Many of these conditions also benefit from our award-winning products whether it's our 'first aid kit' in a bottle for cuts, grazes and bruising or for a soothing bath or to treat a swollen knee.

As well as helping yourself to manage the expected high temperature, Helen Perkins emphasises the importance of preparing for post-run recovery, based on her extensive experience of treating running injuries with Bowen therapy:

Here is her advice: "Rehydrate with more water or a sports drink, do some gentle cool-down stretches or walking on the spot, and when you get home enjoy a good soak in the bath with added Bexters crystals to easetight aching muscles and hot tired feet.
