Yaxley GP Welcome to Yaxley GP, part of Lakeside Healthcare. Welcome to Yaxley GP, part of Lakeside Healthcare! About Lakeside Healthcare!

Our close-knit team of GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, administrative and reception staff, are dedicated to providing the best possible healthcare services for our community. Our team works collaboratively to provide healthcare services at Lakeside Healthcare at Yaxley. We are fortunate to have a close-knit team of GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, administrative and reception st

aff, who are all dedicated to providing the best possible service for our community. Patients are at the heart of what we do and we couldn’t do it without our extensive team. We are lucky to have so many experienced and long serving colleagues, plus newer staff who are committed to a career in Primary Care. We have an experienced management team who deal with the daily running of our practices and our patient service advisors are there to help whether you have a medical concern or administrative query. They are very busy so if your enquiry can wait until after 11am each day then that would be appreciated and should save you time either waiting on the telephone or in our reception areas. We engage regularly with patients through our Patient Participation Group, taking their views into account where possible when making changes and listening to their views, issues and ideas. We also have productive working relationships with the Integrated Care Board and Care Quality Commission and make improvements as and where we can. As well as our daily work in surgeries we also work in the local community, making home visits, providing healthcare for residents in local care homes and offer advice and support on lifestyle and non-clinical issues with our Personalised Care Team of care coordinators and social prescribers. We are busier than ever so thank you for your understanding while we continue recruit, train and develop our team and working practices to see as many patients as we can safely. Yaxley GP is a part of Lakeside Healthcare, a large GP partnership that provides NHS care for around 170,000 patients across Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Northamptonshire. We are made up of eight GP practices across 14 sites that are all part of their local communities. We work together as practices to provide resilience, sharing learning and professional back-office support services. Our most important asset is our people, who provide care for our patients and help run our surgeries smoothly. We employ over 500 clinical and non-clinical staff and we invest in training and developing to ensure that we retain and attract good quality staff who want to stay with us and be part of our team. We also host a clinical research team who run high quality clinical trials and studies to support the development of new medications and preventative treatment for long-term conditions. We are proud of what we do and strive to demonstrate our values of Caring, Respect, Quality and Teamwork in everything we do. For further information please visit our website.

Not sure about your vaccination status? Here’s how to check...

If you're unsure whether you’ve had your recommended vaccinations, you can check online using the NHS App or SystmOnline. Your vaccination history is usually listed in your online GP record.

Log in to the NHS App or SystmOnline and look under Your health record. Some older vaccinations may not appear online depending on when online record access was enabled. If anything appears to be missing or doesn’t look right, please get in touch and we’ll review it for you.

If you can’t access the NHS App or SystmOnline, you can contact us using Anima by submitting an administrative request. Our team will review your record and let you know what we find.

If you’re unable to use online services, please call the practice. If possible, calling in the afternoon can help as our phone lines are usually less busy. A member of the team can check your vaccination history and confirm your status.

If we find that you haven’t received the recommended vaccines, or if your record is unclear, we’ll discuss this with you and arrange any catch-up vaccinations you may need.

You can find full details of routine NHS vaccinations and when they’re offered here:

Recent cases of meningitis reported in Kent have highlighted how quickly the illness can become serious. Vaccination helps protect against types of meningitis and other serious infections. You can read more about the symptoms, risks and how to protect yourself here:

Young Carers Action Day – 11th March 2026
A young carer is a young person, under the age of 18, who has a caring responsibility. This is usually for a family member who:

👉 Has a disability
👉Has a long-term illness
👉Has a mental illness (including depression, anxieties), or
👉Misuses alcohol or substances.

Young carers face a huge array of challenges because of their caring role. Many Carers Trust young carer surveys repeatedly show many young carers are disadvantaged across multiple aspects of their lives, including mental and physical health, finances, education and employment. Young Carers Action Day provides an opportunity for everyone to call for better support for young carers and young adult carers, and to bring about change.

📲 App for Young Carers
Young carers need proper support around them to make sure they’re able to care for their loved ones while taking care of their own physical and mental health, and working towards a bright and healthy future.

The Young Carers Support app enables young and young adult carers in the UK to find information all in one place, including:

ℹ️ Information and advice
💜 Self-help resources
🙂 Wellbeing tips and activities
👍 A catalogue of support services

Caring Together, Centre 33, Cambridgeshire County Council, Peterborough City Council, and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), worked together to compile localised information for young carers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The app is free and available for any young carer, or professional working with young carers to download on both Android and iOS.

The team at South Peterborough Primary Care Network was proud to support our local veterans and serving military personnel at a special event for our patients, and those from Wansford as well.

The event, hosted at Castor Lodge Care Home, brought together a fantastic mix of local and national organisations, all dedicated to offering advice, support, and resources to those who have served.

It was inspiring to see so many patients come together—not just to connect with visiting organisations, but to share stories and build friendships with fellow veterans. The warm, welcoming atmosphere truly reflected the strength of our community.

A special thank you to the Personalised Care Team including Lead, Dawn, Social Prescriber Marie and our Veterans’ Champion, Carole, for organising the event and creating valuable information packs for patients.

We’re delighted that two organisations gained new volunteers from among the patients, showing the power of community involvement. Together, we’re making a difference for those who have served.

Lakeside Research, which runs clinical trials, has been boosted by the addition of two new Partners, Dr Rex Sarmiento and Dr Sophie Reiter. Dr Sarmiento has been with the team since 2016 and has now decided to step into Partnership, while Dr Reiter is experienced in research and new to the team.

Dr Sarmiento first got involved as a student in his native Philippines. His initial project was testing the antibacterial properties of kapok tree bark, earning his first ever research award as a teenager and firing up a love for research.

He trained as a doctor, then came to the UK to work in hospitals before becoming a research physician in Birmingham, Cannock, London and Leeds. He has been involved in research at the Corby site for the past ten years, working as a crucial part of the team.

Dr Sarmiento said: ‘The turning point for the unit was the pandemic. When no vaccine was available it was good to be able to be in the forefront of Covid vaccine studies, to make a difference and to have been part of the research behind successful drugs. Being at the forefront of clinical research gives you a real feeling of accomplishment and pride.

‘Partnership is a step up in terms of responsibility. I have nearly finished my Masters in Clinical Trials and so, with my training and experience, I hope to bring more to Lakeside and the Research team.’

Dr Sophie Reiter’s passion is to ‘make research accessible to everyone’ and champion studies that have the most beneficial effect for patients locally and nationally. As well as being a GP and Principal Investigator, she is also a regional lead for Primary Care Research in the East of England, supporting workforce development and research capacity and capability.

She has been involved in many academic and commercial studies involving vaccines, cardiovascular disease, lipid disorders, and cancer screening and said: ‘What really drives me is making research accessible. I believe that all patients should have access to the newest treatments, innovations and research opportunities as a part of routine General Practice.

‘To provide the highest standard of care, we prioritise research studies that have the potential to directly benefit our patients, while also contributing to the wider research community. For example, if we identify a high prevalence of COPD or cardiovascular disease within our patient population, we actively seek to participate in research studies focused on those conditions. The team has been incredibly welcoming, with a strong sense of camaraderie, and I am really looking forward to being a part of it.’
