What a fabulous evening! 🌿🎉

It was so lovely to see everyone come together to celebrate the Grand Opening of our new shelter at Penlee Valley Allotments on Friday. Brilliant to now have such a welcoming space for our participants and community 🌸🌱

A huge thank you to the Alex Ferry Foundation for funding the build and to our amazing construction team – Dave, Joe, Andy, Mark, Andy, Danny, Malcolm and Kevin – who have worked incredibly hard, in all weathers, to bring the shelter to life. We’re so grateful for all your time, skill and dedication🛠️💚

Thank you also to everyone who helped with the catering, preparations and bar on the night. What a team 👨‍🌾🌱🌿🌻🌸🪻👩‍🌾🧤

We spotted this whilst we were doing our 'Big butterfly count'. Anyone seen one of these before? It's a hummingbird hawk moth feeding on the sweet nectar of buddleia.

At Blooming Well, we're passionate about promoting wildlife-friendly gardens to support butterflies, bees and all the amazing creatures we find in nature. We offer a safe haven -avoiding pesticides, choosing plants 🌼🌺🌷that produce pollen and nectar for as long a season as possible and providing shelter and water. We're hoping for a high count.

This Red Admiral was spotted at our garden in Sheepstor on a Teasel flower. Wonderful ☺️

We're trying something new 🌟 🌟

Our first 'Nature Inspired Craft morning' proved to be a great success with 20 of our community coming together to try their hand at learning new skills, honing others and having lunch together in Sheepstor Village Hall

A huge thank you to Nadine for showing us how to create decorative candles using pressed flowers 🌷🌼🌺 from the garden, to Denise for her inspiring sewing and craft ideas 🪡✂ and to Dave for teaching us how to create metal plant supports 🪴

Wonderful to have Nadine and Denise, two of our 6-week programme participants with us, volunteering to share their skills, knowledge and creativity.

We are very grateful to the Co-op for funding our drop in sessions and events this year and to Michael Fife -Cook, Devon County Councillor for his kind donation towards craft materials 🙏

We’ve been very quiet on here, but behind the scenes it’s been full steam ahead in the garden and on our allotment 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾 Spring has been packed with sowing, growing, and building — including our new shelter — as well as a beautiful Dartmoor bluebell walk, forest bathing, shared lunch, and creative crafting session 🎨 We've also enjoyed hosting Occupational Therapy students from UOP for their community volunteering experience. Amazing😊

A huge thank you to everyone who’s joined our 6-week programme, drop-in sessions, and events. The sense of community that is felt when we come together is very special with everyone contributing so much.

Festive greetings and a huge thank you to everyone in our Blooming Well community - our participants, volunteers, donors and followers. We are so grateful for all the support and kindness you have shared this year. You have been AMAZING. It has been wonderful to see 'Blooming Well' develop and grow with your incredible help.

Our Christmas party celebrated that sense of community. Thank you to everyone who braved the torrential rain to get here, those who helped with the catering and washing up and Tess for her creative skills in capturing the spirit that is 'Blooming Well' on film. Thats something that is not easy to put into words

We look forward to being with you / hearing from you all in 2026.
