Man Down Plymouth

Man Down Plymouth Man Down UK provide informal peer-support talking groups all over the UK for men with mental health concerns. Let’s keep talking about it!
💙

Together we can end the stigma and reduce the number of male suicides.

You are not alone.

A lot of young men are struggling silently.

After school or college, life doesn’t always go the way you expected. Friendships change, routines disappear, and suddenly it can feel like everyone else is moving forward while you’re trying to keep your head above water.

Some men cope by drinking more.
Some disappear into gaming.
Some gamble.
Some make jokes and act like everything’s fine.

But behind the humour, bravado, or “I’m alright mate” can be anxiety, depression, loneliness, and feeling completely lost.

You don’t have to hit rock bottom before talking to someone.

At Man Down, we know opening up can feel difficult… especially when you’re worried about being judged or not taken seriously. That’s why our peer support groups are relaxed, informal, and built around men supporting men.

No pressure to talk.
No expectations.
Just a place where you don’t have to pretend.

If this post sounds like someone you know, send it to them or check in with them today. Sometimes knowing someone cares can make all the difference.

Spotted one of our Man Down posters out in the community 👀 Trago Mills

Every poster helps start conversations, reminds men they’re not alone, and lets people know support is out there.

Have you spotted one of our posters anywhere locally? Drop a photo or comment below ⬇️

We’re always looking for more local businesses, cafés, gyms, workplaces, community spaces, and noticeboards willing to display a poster and help spread awareness across Devon and further.

If you’d be happy to put one up in your workplace or local business, send us a message at [email protected], we’d really appreciate the support 🙌

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week (11th–17th May) 💛🖤

Looking after your mental health doesn’t always mean making huge changes. Sometimes, the small things can make the biggest difference.

Here are a few simple ideas to try this week:

1️⃣ Take a 10-minute walk
2️⃣ Put the phone down before bed
3️⃣ Talk to a mate
4️⃣ Step outside and get some fresh air
5️⃣ Slow your breathing for a minute
6️⃣ Feel the sun on your face
7️⃣ Fuel your body with good food
8️⃣ Prioritise sleep
9️⃣ Be kind to yourself

You don’t have to do them all… just start somewhere 💪

Mental health matters every day, and no man should feel like he has to struggle alone.

👇 What helps you look after your mental health?

Let’s talk about it.

Some men go days without a proper conversation.
Some are sitting in quiet houses missing a partner, old friends, or the life they once had.
And some feel invisible in a world that seems to move faster every year.

Loneliness doesn’t always look obvious.
It can look like keeping busy, staying silent, or saying “I’m fine” when you’re not.

At Man Down, we know that many older men are carrying grief, isolation, and disconnection quietly on their own. Whether you’ve lost someone close, live alone, or simply miss having people around you… you are not alone in feeling this way.

Our peer support groups offer a relaxed, non-judgemental space to talk, listen, or just be around other men who understand.

No pressure.
No expectations.
Just support, conversation, and connection.

It’s never too late to reach out.

Ever catch yourself scrolling… and suddenly an hour’s gone?

You’re not alone.

A lot of us fall into the trap… lying in bed, on the sofa, or even hiding in the loo for “five minutes”… just scrolling. News, reels, opinions, bad headlines, perfect lives. It doesn’t take long before it starts messing with your head.

Comparison. Stress. That low-level feeling that something’s off.

It’s not weakness… it’s how these apps are designed. But that doesn’t mean you have to stay stuck in it.

Try this today:
🔹 Put your phone down for 10 minutes
🔹 Step outside or change rooms
🔹 Message a mate instead of scrolling strangers
🔹 Notice how you actually feel before and after

Small changes make a big difference.

If your head’s feeling heavy lately, don’t just sit with it. Talk. We’re here for that.

💬 Man Down is a space where you can say what’s really going on, no judgement, no pressure.
