❤️ MY SLIMMING WORLD JOURNEY – 4 STONE 3½LBS LOST ❤️
For most of my adult life, I’ve been a yo-yo dieter. I’d lose weight, regain it and promise myself that this time would be different.
Then, in January 2025, I decided that enough really was enough.
I joined Sue’s 5.30pm Slimming World group at Canford Heath and made a decision that would change my life — I was going to take control of my health and make myself a priority.
But my reason for wanting to lose weight went far beyond a number on the scales.
At that time, I was only a couple of years younger than my mum had been when she developed diabetes. That really made me stop and think.
I didn’t want to reach that age still carrying excess weight and potentially putting my health at risk.
And most importantly, I have an adult disabled son.
I want to be here for him.
I want to be as healthy as I can be, for as long as I can be. I want to have the strength and energy to support him, to make memories with him and to be there for him for many, many years to come.
That became my why. ❤️
Over the following months, Slimming World completely changed my relationship with food.
I discovered that losing weight didn’t mean living on salads or feeling hungry. I could enjoy the foods I loved, try new recipes and adapt old favourites. There was so much choice that I never felt like I was missing out.
By October 2025, I had lost 3½ stone.
I was happy. My weight had stabilised and I had come so far.
But I still had 10lbs I wanted to lose.
Then, in June 2026, something happened that gave me the final push I needed…
I ordered an outfit for a Nigerian wedding I was attending in July. When it arrived, I could just about get the zip done — but bending down or sitting comfortably was definitely not happening! 😂
So I had three choices:
👗 Have the outfit altered
😂 Consider liposuction
💪 Or get my head down and lose those final 10lbs!
I chose the third option!
I incorporated intermittent fasting into my Slimming World journey and, with that extra focus, I lost those final 10lbs.
I wore my Nigerian outfit comfortably to the wedding…
…and I finally reached TARGET! 🎯❤️
But there was another incredibly special moment along the way…
🏆 I was voted Slimming World Woman of the Year! 🏆
To be recognised in this way after everything I had worked so hard to achieve was incredibly emotional. It reminded me just how far I had come — not only physically, but mentally too.
The woman who started this journey in January 2025 could never have imagined where she would be today.
I’ve now been at target for three weeks, and I’m learning that reaching target isn’t the end.
It’s the beginning of maintaining everything I’ve worked so hard to achieve.
I know I need to keep tracking, keep attending group every week, keep myself accountable and continue with the healthy habits I’ve built.
Because this time, I’m not looking for another diet.
I’ve changed my lifestyle.
And the biggest reward isn't just seeing 4 stone 3½lbs disappear from the scales.
It’s knowing that I’ve given myself the best possible chance of being healthier, happier and here for my son for many more years to come. ❤️
I genuinely feel like a completely different person.
So, if you’re sitting there wondering whether you should take that first step…
DO IT.
I know what it feels like to have spent years yo-yo dieting and thinking “I’ll never be able to do this.”
But if I can do it, after all those years, you can too.
Your journey might start with a number on the scales…
…but it could end with you getting your life back. ❤️
4 stone 3½lbs lost.
Target achieved.
Woman of the Year.
Life changed.
And I’m not stopping here. 💪❤️

Weight loss is a constant battle… but it’s not always about the number on the scales. ❤️

I started my journey in May 2024. The first picture was taken the month before, in April7 weight started to come off.

I lost a further 4 stone.

In January this year, I achieved that magical 5 stone weight loss. 🥳

Since then, though, the scales haven’t moved very much, even though nothing has really changed diet-wise.

I thought… it must be inches I’m losing.

And guess what?

It was!

When I started, I took my measurements — bust, waist, hips, arms and thighs. While my hips haven’t really changed much over the last six months, I knew my body shape was changing.

When I started my journey, I was wearing a size 24/26 dress.

Today, I order a size 16 with confidence! 😍

My bra size has gone from a 44 to a 38, and even my thighs are 2 inches smaller.

We read all those amazing stories in the Slimming World magazine about people who have lost incredible amounts of weight, and I used to think:

“That will never be me.”

But it can be.

Even half a pound a week is a win. That’s a block of butter! 🧈

Don’t beat yourself up. Praise yourself.

Because if you can lose half a pound every week, that’s 26lb in a year — nearly 2 stone!

Take the win. ❤️

And then there are all those off-the-scales victories.

I used to struggle going down the stairs. Now I can do them easily.

I used to get in the car to go to the corner shop. Now I actually want to walk.

I can run around and play with my grandchildren.

And I even felt proud walking alongside the swimming pool — something I never would have imagined before.

I have always been a heavier person, so for me, the number on the scales isn’t as important as the dress size, the compliments and, most importantly, how I feel about myself.

My ego is being fed constantly with people telling me how good I’m looking — and honestly, after years of having very low self-esteem, those compliments mean so much.

I’m not at the end of my journey yet.

I’d love to lose another 3 stone. My dream would be a confident size 12… maybe even a 10! Who knows? 🤷‍♀️

But one thing I do know…

With Sue’s constant support, praise and encouragement, together with the Slimming World principles that have helped me get this far, I’ll get there eventually.

Because this journey has taught me something very important:

The scales only tell you one part of the story.

Sometimes the biggest changes are the ones you can’t see in the number. ❤️

I started my journey in May 2024. The first picture was taken the month before, in April.

I started with Sue at Slimming World Canford Heath, and honestly, it was a slow start. As much as I tried, it took me a while to really get my head in the game.

1lb off… half on… 2lb off… 1lb on… and so it went on.

But I kept going back to group.

Then something clicked. And once it did, I was well away!

It took me a whole year to lose my first stone. But as I approached my 60th birthday, something changed. I was focused, determined and the weight started to come off.

I lost a further 4 stone.

In January this year, I achieved that magical 5 stone weight loss. 🥳
