Happy Friday 😊

You are already enough, just as you are.
You don’t have to prove your worth today or carry everything perfectly.
Go gently with yourself, that matters more than you think 💛

Self care is practicing how to stop feeling guilty for choosing yourself đŸ«¶

Self care isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.

You can’t pour from an empty cup. When you’re constantly giving to others without taking time to recharge, it leads to burnout, resentment, and emotional exhaustion.

Taking care of yourself isn’t about putting yourself above others, it’s about maintaining your wellbeing so you can show up as your best, most grounded self.

Rest. Set boundaries. Say no when you need to. Do things that make you feel like you again.

It can sound strange, even frightening, to intentionally go back to things you’ve spent so long trying to cope with, avoid, or push away. For many, it feels easier to keep the lid on and carry on.

But therapy isn’t about reliving the pain for the sake of it.

It’s about giving those experiences the space to be gently understood, processed, and held differently, often for the first time. When that happens, something can begin to shift. The memories don’t disappear, but they can lose their grip.

Many people describe it as coming out the other side, not because the past is erased, but because it no longer feels quite so heavy to carry.

And you don’t have to do this all at once. Therapy moves at your pace, one session at a time, with care and support throughout đŸ€

Spring is arriving 🌿

After the long, dark winter months, the world slowly begins to soften again. Lighter mornings, longer evenings, and small signs of life returning all around us.

Spring reminds us that change is possible. That even after the hardest seasons, growth can begin again.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down, you’re not alone. Just like the seasons, our inner world moves in cycles too.

Therapy can be a space to gently explore what’s been dormant, process what’s been heavy, and begin to nurture new growth at your own pace.

You don’t have to rush the process. Even the smallest steps forward matter. đŸŒ±

Take a look at your safe space đŸ€

A quiet, private space where you can bring whatever is on your mind, the things that feel heavy, confusing, overwhelming, or hard to say out loud anywhere else.

There is no pressure to have the right words.
No expectation to have everything figured out.

Just a safe, calm space where you can talk at your own pace, be heard without judgement, and begin to understand yourself a little more.

For many people, walking through the door for the first time can feel like the hardest step. But once you’re here, we simply start where you are.

This space is for you ✹

Today is International Women’s Day 💜

A day to recognise the strength, resilience, and courage of women everywhere.

It’s also a moment to acknowledge the challenges many women carry, the pressure to be everything to everyone, the emotional labour, the expectations, the struggles that often go unseen.

Every woman’s experience is different, but every story matters.

Therapy can be a space where women are able to speak freely, feel heard, process their experiences, and reconnect with their own strength and voice.

Today is about celebrating women, supporting women, and reminding each other that you don’t have to carry everything alone 💛🌾

Starting Therapy Is Hard.

Let’s be honest about that.

Walking into a room (or logging onto a call) and talking about the things you’ve spent years pushing down? That’s not easy.

A lot of people come to therapy trying to stay “in control.”
They apologise for crying.
They hold their breath when emotions rise.
They say, “I don’t usually talk about this.”

Some have spent years being the strong one. The capable one. The one who doesn’t fall apart.

But here’s the truth:

Holding everything in takes far more energy than letting it out.

Tears aren’t weakness. They’re release.
Emotion isn’t failure. It’s information.
When you allow yourself to feel, you’re not losing control, you’re processing.

And processing is how we grow.

Therapy can feel harder before it feels lighter. That’s normal. When you start opening boxes you’ve kept tightly shut, it can feel messy at first. But avoiding those boxes doesn’t make them disappear, it just keeps them heavy.

We go at your pace. Always.

You don’t have to dive into everything at once.
You don’t have to be “ready” in a perfect way.
You don’t have to stop crying.

You just have to show up.

Growth isn’t about never feeling pain.
It’s about learning you can feel it and still be okay đŸ€

Hi, I’m Sarah 👋
The face behind Positive Steps Therapy 🙂

I’m originally from Liverpool, but Dorset has been home for the past 16 years.

I chose to become a counsellor after losing a loved one. That loss forced me to sit with pain, grief, confusion and questions I couldn’t answer on my own. Therapy became a turning point, not because it erased the pain, but because it helped me understand it, carry it, and grow around it.

Through my own therapy, my training, and the work I now do with others, I’ve found real purpose. Purpose in holding space for people when life feels overwhelming. Purpose in listening without judgement. Purpose in helping people make sense of their experiences and take steps forward at their own pace.

I believe that healing doesn’t come from being told what to do, but from being truly heard, understood, and supported.
This is what I aim to offer here đŸ€
