We are delighted to announce that Thomas Wheeler from our Management Accounts team has been crowned Head Office Employee of the Month for June.

Thomas joined Agincare in 2023 as an Accounts Payable Assistant before recently progressing into the Management Accounts team.

Over the last few months, he has been an invaluable mentor to new members of the team, always taking the time to offer guidance and support.

With Agincare’s support, Thomas is now nine months into studying for his CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification, and has a bright future ahead of him.

Lynne Murgatroyd, Tom’s line manager, added:

"Since joining Agincare as an Accounts Payable Assistant, Thomas has demonstrated a real interest in learning as much as possible about his role and how it fits into the wider Finance Team.

“He has been studying for a professional accountancy qualification and is progressing exceptionally well.

"For the last few months, Thomas has divided his time between his Accounts Payable responsibilities and supporting the Management Accounts Team, with a view to transitioning into the team permanently.

"He has quickly become a valuable and dependable member of the team, always keen to learn, take on new challenges, and support the team.

“I’m really pleased to see his hard work, dedication, and commitment recognised with this award."

Congratulations, Thomas, on this well-deserved recognition.

Thank you for everything you do for Agincare.

When Adela joined Agincourt Care Home as a Team Leader in September 2022, she never imagined that a career in care would lead her to a management role.

Alongside her day-to-day responsibilities, Adela invested in her professional development by completing both her Level 2 Adult Social Care Apprenticeship and Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship through Agincare Training, achieving a Merit in both qualifications.

She also expanded her skills through additional training, including Fire Marshal, Train the Trainer in Moving and Handling and Medication, and a Level 3 Certificate in Emergency First Aid.

Her dedication, commitment to learning, and passion for high-quality care saw her promoted to Deputy Manager in September 2025.

More recently, Adela has stepped into the role of Interim Manager at Agincourt Care Home, leading both colleagues and residents through the next chapter of the home's journey.

Reflecting on her progression, Adela credits much of her success to the support she received from Training Now and her manager, Roxii.

"When I started working for Agincare, I didn't think it would become a career and being a manager was never my original goal.

"However, with the support and encouragement of Roxi and Training Now, I have been able to achieve far more than I thought possible."

Today, Adela enjoys supporting residents, building strong relationships with families, and empowering her team to deliver exceptional care.

Looking ahead, she plans to achieve her CQC registration and begin her Level 5 Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship later this year.

For those considering a career in care, her advice is simple:

"Believe in yourself, stay curious, ask questions, and take every opportunity to learn."

Through the support of managers, apprenticeships, and ongoing training, our team members can build confidence, gain valuable qualifications, and progress into leadership roles while making a meaningful difference in people's lives.

FLIGHT NOW MRESCHEDULED FOR 1:30PM APPROX

Agincare Founder and Chairman Derek Luckhurst will take part in a commemorative Spitfire flight over Portland on Friday 5 June, with the aircraft expected to fly over the island at approximately 1:30PM.

A lifelong history enthusiast, Derek founded Castletown D-Day Museum in 2017 to commemorate Castletown's pivotal role during the Second World War.

As a key embarkation point for the United States 1st and 29th Infantry Divisions, Portland served as one of the final departure locations for troops heading to the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.

The Castletown D-Day Museum is a faithful recreation of a bustling wartime Portland dockyard and has become one of the South West's leading heritage attractions. Through immersive exhibits and authentic displays, the museum brings to life the experiences of those involved in one of history's most significant military operations.

The museum not only honours the American servicemen who departed from Portland but also pays tribute to the residents of Weymouth and Portland whose dedication and support made a vital contribution to the war effort.

In recognition of its outstanding visitor experience, The Castletown D-Day Museum has received TripAdvisor's prestigious Travellers' Choice Award for four consecutive years, placing it among the top 10% of attractions worldwide. It also proudly retains its position as Portland's highest-rated visitor attraction.
