A Note About Our Herbal Medicine Prices
Dear valued customers,
Since opening Budd’s Herbal Apothecary in 2012, I have always tried to keep my herbal medicines as affordable and accessible as possible.
When I first introduced our 100ml tincture bottles, they were priced at £9.99, and for the past 14 years, I have chosen not to increase that price. Instead, I absorbed the rising costs because I firmly believe that herbal medicine should remain as accessible as possible to the people who rely on it.
However, the reality is that the cost of running a small independent herbal business has changed significantly.
The price of raw herbs, delivery charges, labels, packaging and, in particular, our glass bottles has increased dramatically over recent years. More recently, many of these costs have continued to rise on an almost weekly basis.
After carefully reviewing my business costs, I realised that I had not fully appreciated just how much these increases had affected the cost of producing our herbal medicines. In all honesty, I have spent the past few years wondering why I have been finding it increasingly difficult to keep the business financially sustainable.
The answer was both simple and difficult to accept: I have been undercharging for my tinctures.
To ensure that Budd’s Herbal Apothecary can continue to provide the high-quality herbal medicines that so many of you depend upon, I have made the difficult decision to increase the price of our 100ml tincture bottles from £9.99 to £12.99.
I appreciate that an increase of approximately one-third is substantial and that it comes at a time when everyone is feeling the pressure of rising household costs. Please believe me when I say that this decision was not made lightly, and I genuinely regret having to introduce such a significant increase all at once.
There is, however, one important exception.
Patients who receive bespoke herbal prescriptions following a private consultation will continue to pay the original price of £9.99 per 100ml tincture.
This is my way of recognising the trust that my consultation patients place in me and ensuring that those receiving ongoing, personalised herbal care can continue to access their prescribed medicines at the original price.
