If your period is something you have to plan your life around every month, it’s worth paying attention.

For many women, periods aren’t just inconvenient — they’re something you quietly work around.

Changing plans. Thinking ahead. Worrying about what might happen next.

You might be:
🩸 soaking through protection more quickly than you expect
🩸 bleeding through clothes or bedding
🩸 having periods that last more than a week, or affect how you feel physically

If this sounds familiar, these can be signs of heavy menstrual bleeding — a medical condition that many women experience, but don’t always recognise.

You’re not alone – and you don’t have to just put up with it.

For many people, periods aren’t just a monthly inconvenience — they can shape plans, routines and confidence.

When these experiences are dismissed as “normal”, it can take time to recognise when something isn’t right.

On Menstrual Hygiene Day, we’re encouraging more open conversations about menstrual health — and a world where no one feels they have to simply put up with symptoms that disrupt their lives.

Because if something is holding you back, it’s anything but normal.

How comfortable are we talking about contraception? What and who influences contraceptive decisions? We asked women for their thoughts on how conversations about contraception impacts their contraceptive choices.

Talking about contraception is vital for increasing awareness and helping everyone make informed decisions about their health, but we also need to ensure that the information shared is clear, credible and balanced.
