Hey! How’s your week gone? Anyone else still have a bit of a hangover from the full moon 🌕 👀 slowing things down this eve INSPIRIT STUDIO | Yoga & Healing I’ve been listening to Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport and he quoted some authors around the subject of Solitude. What he said really resonated with me and I wanted to share my musings on the matter 🙂
We are surrounded by constant noise and distraction in this world. Be that on our phones, the TV, the news, e mails, social media. And we forget how important solitude is. Some people may mistake solitude as being lonely and disconnected. Quite the opposite. Solitude is a return back to self. (Book by Anthony Storr) and it make me think- I always say in my yoga classes about returning back to yourself. Your true, authentic self, away from the noise of the outside world. That is what, for me, yoga is all about. Newport mentions in his book the importance of solitude and how “solitude deprivation” is a real thing.
So, whether it’s stepping onto your yoga mat, going for a walk on your own (without your phone!) meditating (whatever form of meditation is your thing), spending some time in solitude is necessary for your wellbeing.
