Let’s take a closer look at to, too and two.

To - this indicates a direction.
I am going to the park.

Too - this indicates also or very.
It is too hot in the sauna.

Two - this is simply the number 2
Joe ate two pizzas for tea.

Combine them and it can look like this…
Jack walked to the park, Sam came too. The two friends had a phenomenal time.

Feel free to save the visual 👍

Attention parents - this one is worth saving.

If your child has ever written “your welcome” or mixed up “their, there, and they’re,” you are not alone. These are some of the most commonly confused words in the English language, and even adults get them wrong sometimes.

Honestly, how often do you rewrite a sentence to avoid using affect or effect or to avoid practice and practise?!

This chart breaks down 15 tricky word pairs in a simple, easy to understand format with clear definitions and real example sentences. It is the kind of reference tool that makes homework time a little less frustrating for everyone at the table.

Here are a few ways to use it at home:

Print it out and stick it on the fridge or above their desk. Pull it up on your phone when they are working on a writing assignment. Go through one or two pairs at dinner as a fun family quiz. Use it yourself as a quick refresher before helping with homework.

The earlier children learn to use these words correctly, the more confident they become as readers and writers. And that confidence carries them a long way.

Screen grab or download this image and save it somewhere easy to find. It is a small step that can make a real difference in how your child approaches writing.

Share this with another parent who could use it too.

Yes!
It did happen in the key stage 2 SATs, someone created 6-7 questions 🤦🏼‍♂️

But….

They are actually very nice, simple questions which I have no doubt grabbed all of the pupils’ attention.

67 divided by 1 I covered in an earlier post (67 is the answer).

As for Adam and his fruit, let’s break it down.

28p x 6 =168p

32p x 7 =224p

Now it’s a simple enough column addition of 224 + 168=392p

For this question though, the unit (£) was given in the answer box so the answer needs converting to £ and p

392 divided by 100= 3.92

£3.92

Multi steps for 2 marks but quite nice numbers to work with.

🦕🦖 HAPPY DINOSAUR DAY! 🦖🦕

Can you believe these incredible creatures roamed the Earth millions of years ago?!

From the terrifying T-Rex to the gentle giant Brachiosaurus stretching its neck to the treetops, from the armour-plated Triceratops with its iconic three horns to the swift and deadly Velociraptor (yes, the Jurassic Park one ), and the magnificently spiky Stegosaurus rocking those back plates like nobody’s business — these creatures were absolutely WILD.

And let’s not forget the flying Pterodactyl soaring overhead or the ocean terror that was the Mosasaurus — basically a real-life sea monster!

Honestly, the more you learn about dinosaurs, the more mind-blowing they are.

DROP A COMMENT and tell us — what was your favourite dinosaur as a kid?!

Were you a T-Rex kid? A Triceratops fan? Or were you that one cool kid who was obsessed with something more obscure? 😄

Happy June everyone! I hope you’re all geared up for another exciting month - hopefully lots of sunshine too! 🌞

Good luck to all the year 4 children taking on their Times Table Checker over the next couple of weeks 💪🏻

Do your best and remember, it’s only going to last for about 5 minutes 👍

6-7!

This is a very simple problem which assesses a basic understanding of number.

From a teacher point of view, these questions should take seconds to answer and require zero working out.

I do wonder why there is space for working out as I think this encourages a method that isn’t actually needed. I think pupils would get this kind of question correct if there wasn’t a grid given.

How many children do what is in the image and show a method? 😠

67 divided by 1 means:

“Put 67 things into 1 group.”

The one group gets all 67

So the answer is 67

Once children grasp this they will spot that dividing by 1 leaves numbers unchanged.

Simple!
