‼️POSSIBLE SCAM ALERT‼️
It has been brought to our attention that patients may be receiving calls or text messages claiming to be from their GP asking them to “update their details”
Please note, BRIG ROYD SURGERY is NOT contacting their patients for this information
If you receive a suspicious call:
• Do not provide personal, financial or security information to an unexpected caller.
• Do not be pressured into acting immediately.
• If you are unsure whether a call is genuine, hang up and contact your GP practice directly using a telephone number you know and trust.
• It is best to either wait for 10 minutes, or use a different phone to make the call to your GP. This will help you avoid being reconnected to the scammer, who might use special software to wait on the line after you hang up.
• Never rely solely on the number displayed on your phone, as caller ID information can be spoofed.
• If you believe you have provided financial information to a fraudster, contact your bank immediately.
• Suspected fraud can be reported to Report Fraud, the national reporting service for fraud and cyber crime: 0300 123 20 40.
