This festive season, Sheffield Women’s Collective is calling on our community to help bring a little joy to women and children living in refuges.

For families who have had to leave their homes to find safety, this time of year can be particularly difficult. We want to help make sure women and children feel remembered, cared for and included, whatever they celebrate. ❤️

✨ We’re collecting festive shoeboxes and individual gifts for women and children of all ages!

Donations could include:
•Toys, games and books
• Comfort items and cuddly toys
• Cosy socks, pyjamas and blankets
•Toiletries and self-care treats
• Craft kits and activities
• Little treats or thoughtful gifts!

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Yule, the winter solstice, another festive occasion or simply enjoy this time of year, we want our appeal to reflect and include the diversity of our community.

You don’t need to celebrate a particular holiday to take part. This is about kindness, community and helping families feel supported during what can be a really challenging time.

Every donation, big or small, can make a difference. You could donate a whole shoebox, a single gift or a few little treats.

Want to get involved?
Send Sheffield Women’s Collective a message either via DM, on our WhatsApp group or via email at [email protected]
and we’ll share details of how to donate.

Please share this post and help us spread a little kindness across Sheffield, Rotherham and Chesterfield this festive season.

If you're unable to make a box you can also donate to our crowdfunder (link in our bio 🔗) and this helps us to keep running SWC & we can make boxes up to donate as well!

All our love and thanks always, Jade, Skye, Amber and Steph 💜

We are all Jane Doe.

Jane Doe is not just one woman.

She is every woman who has been silenced, dismissed, violated, disbelieved or denied justice.

She is every woman whose name we may never know, whose story may never be heard and whose trauma is too often treated as an inconvenience.

We are the women who stand beside her. The women who refuse to look away. The women who speak when others are silenced and who refuse to accept a world where women have to fight to be believed, protected and treated with dignity.

Behind every Jane Doe is a person. A life. A story. A woman who deserves safety, compassion, justice and the right to be heard.

We will not be silent. We will not look away. We will not allow women to become just another statistic, another headline or another forgotten name.

We are all Jane Doe.
Until every woman is safe, heard and believed, none of us are free.

Postpartum mood disorders are more than just the “baby blues.”

Postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD and other perinatal mental health conditions can affect anyone, regardless of how wanted the pregnancy was, how much you love your baby, or how happy you feel you should be.

You can be grateful and struggling.
You can love your baby and have frightening thoughts.
You can look completely fine and feel like you’re falling apart inside.

Too often, mothers are expected to quietly endure exhaustion, intrusive thoughts, anxiety, hopelessness and overwhelm because it’s dismissed as “just part of being a new mum.”

It isn’t.

Postpartum mental illness is common, serious and treatable.

So check in on the new mums in your life. Ask twice. Listen without judgement and believe them when they tell you they’re struggling. 🤍

At Sheffield Women's Collective, we've always been, and always will be, an intersectional organisation.

We know the new guidance on single-s*x spaces has left many trans and non-binary people feeling worried, hurt or uncertain. If that's how you're feeling, please know you're not alone, and there is support available.

After the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of s*x earlier this year, Samaritans reported a 40% increase in calls from trans people experiencing suicidal thoughts. We know that decisions like these, and the conversations that follow, can have a real impact on people's mental health.

Please reach out if you need to. You deserve support, and there are people who care.

⚽ Domestic abuse rises during major football tournaments.

• +26% when England win or draw
• +38% when England lose
• +11% the day after an England match

Football doesn't cause domestic abuse.
Abusers do.

But major tournaments are known periods of increased risk of incidents of domestic violence.

🫧 BUBBLE RELEASE FOR SHANICE BROOKES 🫧

Shanice was a young woman, who was stripped from her life following a night out with her friends in Sheffield; a man murdered her in a senseless act at the weekend where she was an innocent bystander shot dead outside One Four One Bar.

She had her whole future ahead of her, having just completed her Masters studies, being a volunteer at Zest charity and being a mother to her 10 year old son who now has to grow up without his best friend and mum.

Let’s come together to remember a beautiful soul, an amazing mum, a true friend to so many in Sheffield and another woman who's life has been taken by a man's actions.

🗓️ 6th June 2026
⏰ 2pm - 4pm
