Tonight, at 7pm, families around the world will light a candle in memory of babies who are no longer with us. 🕯️🕊️

As each candle is lit, a wave of light will travel across the world, creating a beautiful moment of remembrance for every baby who was loved, cherished and never forgotten.

Tonight, we remember:

🩷 Babies who lived for only a short time
🩵 Every little life that touched a family forever

Today, we recognise the incredible work of hospice and palliative care teams who support people and their families through some of life’s most difficult moments. 🕊️

Hospice care is about so much more than end-of-life care. It is about comfort, dignity, compassion and making every moment matter — while supporting not only the person who is seriously ill, but those who love and care for them too. 💜

From nurses and doctors to healthcare assistants, counsellors, volunteers and so many others, these dedicated teams provide kindness and reassurance when families need it most.

This week, we remember the babies who were loved, wanted and cherished, and the families who carry their memory every day. 🕊️

Baby loss can leave an indescribable space in a family’s life, and the grief that follows can be deeply personal. Whether a loss happened recently or many years ago, the love for a baby never simply disappears.

During Baby Loss Awareness Week, we’re thinking of:

For those who have experienced the loss of a loved one in hospital, our Autumn Memory Walk is a special opportunity to come together, remember and celebrate their life. 🍂 🧡

This meaningful event is back for 2026, and we'd love you to join us to walk in memory of someone special, walking alongside others in our community who understand.

Perhaps your loved one received outstanding care from our NHS teams, or you were able to spend precious final moments together in one of our Purple Butterfly end-of-life rooms. Walking in memory of those special to us is a meaningful way to say thank you and give something back – helping us to support other patients and families through some of the most difficult moments in their lives. 🧡
