Checking in on someone who’s struggling is really about offering presence, not pressure.

It’s a way of saying - you’re not alone, you’re not a burden, & you don’t have to carry everything by yourself.

A good check‑in gives someone permission to feel seen, & to reach out when they’re ready — without forcing them to talk before they can. It’s a small act that can make a heavy moment feel a little lighter.

It allows the person who is struggling to feel more comfortable with it being ok, not to be ok & that they are not alone 💚

Many of my clients’ apologise for crying in sessions because many of us were taught directly or indirectly, that tears are something to hide rather than a natural part of being human.

People worry their emotions will make others uncomfortable or feel responsible. We say “sorry” as if emotion is an inconvenience.

As if being human needs an apology.
But tears aren’t a burden.
They’re a release.
They’re honesty.
They’re the body telling the truth.
You never need to apologise for feeling.

Letting ourselves cry matters because crying is one of the body’s built‑in ways to regulate emotion and return to balance.
💚 Emotional release — Crying helps discharge the intensity of feelings that would otherwise stay stored in the body.
💚 Stress reduction — Emotional tears carry stress hormones & activate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping the body shift into calm.
💚 Nervous system regulation — Allowing tears to flow completes the body’s natural processing cycle instead of leaving the system stuck in a heightened state.
💚 Emotional clarity — Once the body releases the charge, the mind can think more clearly & compassionately.
💚 Psychological resilience — Letting ourselves feel fully builds emotional flexibility rather than avoidance or suppression.

Ultimately, tears aren’t weakness — they’re the body’s natural reset, clearing space for healing, calm, and clarity.

Seeking help is one of the most courageous things a person can do. From a therapist’s perspective, it isn’t a sign that something is “wrong with you” — it’s a sign that you’re ready to take yourself seriously enough to grow.

Seeking help isn’t weakness — it’s being brave.
Therapy isn’t about being “fixed,” it’s about being supported, understood, and reminded that you don’t have to carry everything alone.
Choosing help is choosing healing, and you deserve that - we all do 💚

If it feels like the right time for you to focus on you & to explore your feelings & emotions and any challenges or concerns you may have, why not get in touch with me for a free 15 minute chat to see how we could work together.

Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that mental health is part of everyday life — something we all experience, protect, & sometimes struggle with. It’s a week that encourages awareness, but also action!
This year’s UK theme of taking meaningful steps to support ourselves & others focuses on the small actions we can all do in our every day lives — a conversation, a moment of rest, a check‑in with someone (a text, a call, a visit) All of these little actions can help someone who is struggling 💚

Our Mental Health is part of everything we do - how we think, feel, act, relate, & cope.
We all have good & difficult days, and needing support is a normal part of being human.

No one has to face their struggles on their own

If it feels like the right time for you to focus on you & to explore your feelings & emotions and any challenges or concerns you may have, why not get in touch with me for a free 15 minute chat to see how we could work together.

During therapy sessions you’ll have the space to share what you hope to get out of therapy & any worries you have. You don’t need to know exactly what to say, many people feel emotional or unsure at first - and that’s ok.

Your therapy journey is a quiet kind of transformation — a slow returning to yourself. It’s the space where you learn to listen to yourself, soften or change old patterns & meet your emotions with more honesty & compassion. Over time, you begin to feel lighter, clearer, & more connected to who you are.

Scroll through the above for 7 things you can do in-between therapy sessions to positively impact your unique journey 💚

The term “glimmer” is the opposite of a trigger.

Glimmers are those moments in your day that make you feel joy, happiness, peace, or gratitude.
Once you train your brain to be on the lookout for glimmers, these tiny moments will appear more & more ✨

Here are some of my glimmers from April, share what some of your glimmers have been in the comments

Therapy isn’t just for the difficult times or when you’re experiencing challenges — it’s about understanding what you truly want for yourself.
In integrative counselling, we explore your thoughts, emotions, patterns, & strengths to help you set goals that feel meaningful & achievable.
Step by step, you learn to move toward the life you’ve been hoping for, with support that adapts to your needs along the way.

Your wishes & goals don’t have to be perfect or fully formed before you start therapy.
During our sessions we can figure them out & help you make sense of what you want, why it matters, & what’s been getting in the way.
Together, we turn your hopes & dreams into grounded, realistic steps — and you build the confidence to follow them through 💚
