A little holiday win for me that actually means more than I can put into words ❤️
I haven’t worn a bikini since having my son Toby, who is now 8 years old. For years, I’ve always been the one reaching for a swimsuit or something that covered me up a little more because I just didn’t have the confidence to put a bikini on and feel comfortable in my own skin.
But this isn’t just about wearing a bikini or how I look. It’s about everything I’ve been through to get to this point. ❤️
After falling very poorly with my endometriosis and heart problems, I knew I needed to make some changes. I decided to change my lifestyle and start putting more time and energy into looking after myself, my body and my mind.
The lifestyle I’m now living has helped me so much, both physically and mentally. It hasn’t just changed how I look or how my clothes fit—it has changed how I FEEL. I feel stronger, happier, healthier in myself and so much more confident. 🥰
There have been difficult days along the way, and my health journey hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve learned just how important it is to look after myself and appreciate what my body has been through.
My body has changed over the years. It carried and gave me my beautiful boys, Harrison and Toby, and it has also been through some really difficult times with my health. Instead of constantly criticising it, I’m learning to appreciate it and be proud of how far I’ve come. ❤️
So, this holiday, something felt different. ☀️🌴
For the first time in 8 years, I decided to take the plunge and put on a bikini. I stopped worrying about what I looked like, stopped picking myself apart and just allowed myself to enjoy the moment.
And do you know what? I felt AMAZING! 👙🥰
I felt comfortable. I felt confident. But most importantly, I felt proud of myself—not just because I was wearing a bikini, but because I know what it has taken physically and mentally to get me to this point.
This picture represents so much more to me than just wearing a bikini on holiday. It represents a change in my lifestyle, a change in my mindset and a version of myself that I’m really proud to be becoming.
I’m learning to put my health and happiness first, to appreciate my body for everything it has carried me through and to enjoy life instead of worrying about whether I look “perfect.”
So here’s to feeling stronger, happier and more confident. Here’s to looking after ourselves physically AND mentally. And here’s to enjoying the sunshine, taking the photos and making the memories. ☀️💕
Eight years later… I finally wore the bikini, and I felt bloody amazing doing it. 👙❤️
