I am so excited to announce that I have taken the plunge and will now be offering INDIBA treatments as part of my physiotherapy services!

What is INDIBA?

In short, INDIBA is a form of radiofrequency therapy that operates at a fixed frequency of 448 kHz. Research has shown this frequency to be biologically effective, and its closed electrical circuit enables treatment of deeper tissues that many other modalities cannot effectively target.

Depending on the treatment settings, INDIBA can produce both thermal and non-thermal effects, making it suitable for a wide range of conditions and stages of healing. Research by Kumaran et al. (2017) demonstrated a significant increase in local blood flow following treatment at this frequency. By enhancing circulation and supporting cellular activity, INDIBA can help to reduce pain and inflammation, improve muscle flexibility and range of motion, accelerate tissue healing, optimise recovery, and enhance performance.

Conditions that benefit from INDIBA include:

• Osteoarthritis
• Kissing spines
• Sacroiliac dysfunction
• Tendon and ligament injuries
• Muscle strains, contractures and tears
• Back pain
• Post-operative rehabilitation
• Wound healing
• Performance enhancement
• Muscle recovery

There’s lots more to come on INDIBA over the next few weeks, but if you have any questions or would like to find out whether it could benefit your horse, just drop me a message! 💙

Yesterday I had the pleasure of joining everyone at pony camp at Tedworth Equestrian Centre to talk all things stretching and what a great evening I had !

We explored the role stretching can play in supporting our horses, looked at how to perform a range of stretches correctly, and brought equine anatomy to life by drawing the major muscle groups directly onto the horse. By doing this, we could visualise how different movements affect different areas of the body and how muscle dysfunction can compromise efficient locomotion … although I think it’s safe to say I’ll stick to physiotherapy rather than art! 🎨😂

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, asked questions and got involved throughout the evening. It’s always a privilege to share my passion and help horse owners gain a better understanding of their horses.

Thank you to Pip Lake for organising and providing your lovely demo horse Buzz 🐝

How Often Should You Do Baited Stretches?

If only there was a one-size-fits-all answer!

The ideal frequency depends on several factors, including:

🔹Your horse’s age
🔹Current workload and fitness level
🔹Any existing injuries or medical conditions
🔹Rehabilitation goals
🔹Individual mobility and flexibility

While baited stretches can be a great way to encourage controlled movement and maintain mobility, more isn’t always better. The exercises should be tailored to the individual horse and performed correctly to be effective.

Every horse is different, which is why rehabilitation and exercise programmes should be personalised rather than copied from another horse. As with everything, these stretches should be performed under the advice of a qualified professional 🦄

Mobilisation Mondays 🐎

Today, focusing on a pelvic rounding 💪

By encouraging a posterior pelvic tilt, this exercise activates the deep abdominal stabilisers, supports lumbosacral flexion, and helps reduce load through the lumbar spine.

The result: improved core stability, posture, and more effective hindlimb engagement.

I always make sure I’m palpating my own horse’s back as soon as I take the saddle off 🐴

I’m looking for things like:

🔹areas of tension or tightness
🔹heat or sensitivity to pressure
🔹changes in muscle tone or symmetry
🔹any subtle reactions that might indicate discomfort

These small changes are often the first sign that something isn’t quite right. Staying on top of it early makes all the difference because prevention will always be better than rehab !!
