Our annual summer BBQ took place on 19 August, and this year's theme was inspired by Downton Abbey!

In the lead-up to the event, residents got creative with pom-poms and bunting, making decorations to give the BBQ a special touch.

On the day, residents and their guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ with Pimm's and mocktails, followed by a five-clue quiz and plenty of singing.

Although the morning started with rain, the sun came out in time for the celebrations - perfect timing for a summer BBQ! ☀️

A wonderful afternoon filled with good food, laughter, music and great company. 🎶

It’s an opportunity to meet others who understand the rewards and challenges of caring, share experiences, and pick up helpful information – all in a relaxed setting with refreshments and cake provided ☕🍰

Our residents have been getting creative ahead of the annual BBQ, making colourful handmade bunting with the Companionship Team.

There was plenty of coloured card to choose from, with residents carefully cutting and assembling their designs. Some even added lace for an extra special touch, making each piece unique.

There were lots of smiles along the way, with residents admiring their work and saying, “It is going to be beautiful” and “This is so pretty!”

We can't wait to see our handmade decorations bringing a little extra colour to the BBQ! 🎉

There was only one way to celebrate Jean’s recent 99th birthday at Braemar Lodge – with ice cream 99s in honour of every one of her wonderful years!

Things got competitive in the Braemar Lodge Baking Club this week as two teams went head-to-head to bake the best Victoria sponge!

Residents took on the important job of judging the finished cakes, while the afternoon sparked plenty of memories of favourite recipes, family baking days and treasured tips from their own kitchens.

After all that hard work, there was only one thing left to do – enjoy a well-earned cup of tea and a slice of cake! ☕🍰

With the next Baking Club already being discussed, we're looking forward to seeing what the residents bake next!

🌿 Our recent Open Garden Afternoon welcomed around 80 visitors to explore the beautiful gardens at Braemar Lodge, with residents taking on the role of ‘garden ambassadors’ and sharing their knowledge of the flowers and plants on display.

Guests enjoyed homemade cakes, refreshments and live music from the Camerata string quartet, featuring professional players from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra 🎻

A raffle helped raise more than £550 for Salisbury Hospice Charity 💚

The event formed part of this year’s Salisbury Hospice Open Gardens campaign, proudly supported by Colten Care as headline sponsor.

Pizza perfection at Braemar Lodge! 🍕

Residents enjoyed a fantastic afternoon creating their own pizzas, choosing from a variety of delicious toppings and making each one unique.

With family members joining in, the home was filled with laughter, conversation and creativity. The best part was sitting down together afterwards to enjoy the pizzas everyone had made.

A wonderful afternoon of good food, friendship and happy memories.
