Well Brigg the Bear from Armed Forces Hub - North Lincolnshire is already on his travels. Today he popped into Heslam Park

We’re using Briggs to help shine a spotlight on two important things:
• Our Armed Forces Hub
• April as the National Month of the Military Child
Military children show incredible resilience as they navigate deployments, moves, changing schools and friendships, and the daily worry that comes with having a parent in service. April is our chance to recognise them, celebrate them, and champion them.
đź’ś Supporting Service Children
This year, the Hub is raising money for the Forces Children’s Trust, which supports bereaved service children and those whose parents have suffered significant injuries in service.

Purple badges are available to buy in the Armed Forces Hub and at Church Square House.
If you’re unable to pop in, you can also order your badges directly through us via:
📧 [email protected]
📸 We Want to See Briggs’s Adventures!
We’d love to see who Briggs meets along the way.
Wednesday 24 April is National Purple Up Day, so please encourage anyone Briggs bumps into to join in the purple celebrations!
We’ll have a selfie station set up in the Hub, but photos from workplaces, events or community settings are just as welcome. Please send your pictures to: [email protected]

Sometimes the most important thing in an emergency is simply being willing to act.

You don’t need to know everything.
You don’t need to be perfect.

Understanding a few simple steps — like calling 999, starting CPR, and using a defibrillator — can make a real difference.

We’ll keep sharing simple, practical first aid and defib awareness to help people feel confident if it ever matters.

🧠 One thing most people don’t realise about defibrillators…

You don’t decide whether to shock someone.
The defibrillator does.

It analyses the heart rhythm and will only deliver a shock if it’s needed — otherwise, it tells you to start CPR.

That’s why defibrillators are safe for the public to use.

Understanding this before an emergency removes a huge amount of fear.

This week we’re focusing on CPR & AED awareness to help people feel confident to act when it matters.

📩 Message the page if you’d like details about our upcoming awareness session.

⚡ Quick thought for today…

Defibrillators are designed to be used by the public — not just professionals.

They talk you through every step, only deliver a shock if it’s needed, and are there for anyone in an emergency.

The biggest thing that stops people helping isn’t fear — it’s uncertainty.

Confidence comes from understanding.

⚡ Quick question…

Would you feel confident using a defibrillator if someone collapsed in front of you?

Most people want to help — they’re just worried about doing something wrong.

Confidence comes from understanding.
