Exercise is crazy when you really think about it.

Because nothing else this simple works this reliably for improving your mood, energy, confidence and outlook.

You don’t need the latest hack.

You don’t need a perfect programme.

You don’t need to smash yourself every time.

You just need to move your body consistently.

Lift some weights.
Get your heart rate up.
Challenge yourself.
Get stronger.

And the payoff goes way beyond what you see in the mirror.

You feel stronger.
You feel more capable.
You sleep better.
You have more energy.
You start believing in yourself again.

Especially in midlife, strength training isn’t just about fitness.

It’s about changing how you feel in your body and how you feel about yourself.

Nothing fancy.

Just ridiculously effective.

What actually happens in an NDY PT session? 💪

We don’t walk through the door and immediately start throwing weights around.

First: we prepare.

Mobility, movement, activation and a proper warm-up — getting the body ready for what we’re about to ask it to do.

Then: we train.

Strength work that is appropriate for YOU. Your body, your ability, your goals and where you are right now.

And finally…

We stretch and bring things back down. 🧘‍♀️

Because a good PT session isn’t just about how much you can lift.

It’s about moving well, building strength, feeling confident and looking after your body in the process.

That’s the NDY. Strength in menopause & beyond way.

Strong finish for Mandy 💪🔥

Strength training done… so we finished with a little SIT — Sprint Interval Training — on the SkiErg.

And this is exactly why I don’t believe midlife women need to spend hours slogging away on the treadmill, bike or cross trainer doing long, steady-state cardio.

That doesn’t mean cardio is bad.

It absolutely has its place. ❤️

But if your goal is to get stronger, maintain muscle, support your metabolism, improve fitness and stay capable as you age, strength training needs to be a priority.

Then we can add short, purposeful bursts of high-intensity work like this.

SIT is short, hard efforts followed by recovery — giving us a great cardiovascular stimulus without spending 45–60 minutes plodding away.

For Mandy, it’s a perfect way to finish:

🏋️‍♀️ Build strength
❤️ Challenge the cardiovascular system
🔥 Work hard in a short space of time
💪 And most importantly… keep showing her body what it’s capable of.

We’re not training to be smaller.

We’re training to be stronger, fitter and harder to stop.

That’s the NDY way. 🖤

ISOMETRICS… UNDERRATED FOR MIDlife WOMEN 💪

Not every strength exercise needs to involve lots of reps.

Sometimes I want my clients to get into a position and HOLD it.

These two are great examples 👇

The first is an isometric hip-abduction hold using a band.
The second is an isometric split-squat hold.

Why do I like isometrics so much for midlife women?

➡️ They build strength without needing huge amounts of movement

➡️ They can help improve control and stability around the hips, knees and ankles

➡️ They challenge muscles to work hard while keeping the exercise relatively simple

➡️ They’re a great way to build confidence in positions that might initially feel challenging

➡️ They can be particularly useful when we’re managing niggles or working around movement limitations

➡️ And yes… they can be VERY uncomfortable! 😂

That shaking, burning feeling?

That’s your muscles working.

And this is something I really want women to understand:

Strength training doesn’t have to look like lifting enormous weights in a gym full of testosterone.

It can be bands.
It can be bodyweight.
It can be a hold.
It can be 20 seconds of making your muscles work MUCH harder than they’re used to.

And over time, we progress it.

Because the goal isn’t simply to “do exercise”.

The goal is to become stronger, more capable and more confident in your body.

Especially as we move through midlife and beyond. ❤️

🌅 Breakfast, a walk & a bit of breathing space.

A little bit of self-care squeezed in between clients this morning.

Breakfast sorted, then a walk along the beck, fresh air, sunshine and a few minutes to just slow down and enjoy where I am.

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

You don’t need an hour-long workout, a perfect morning routine or loads of spare time.

Sometimes it’s just good food, a walk and a few minutes outside that can completely change how you feel.

And then… back to work feeling refreshed and ready for the next client. 💪🏼

Will you be able to grab a little peace today?

Comfortable isn’t where the change happens.

One of the biggest things I want women to understand about strength training is this:

You have to be prepared to feel uncomfortable.

Not pain. Not pushing through something that feels wrong.

But challenged.

Because if you keep doing exactly what feels easy, your body has no reason to adapt.

And as you get stronger, you’ll probably find yourself lifting heavier, doing more reps, pushing a little harder… and yes, sometimes it feels bloody uncomfortable! 😂

But the pay-off is HUGE.

💪 Stronger muscles
🦴 Stronger bones
🔥 Better appetite regulation
😴 Better sleep
🧠 Improved mood
❤️ Greater confidence
🙌 And that brilliant feeling of knowing “I can do things I never thought I could.”

The discomfort is temporary.

The benefits of getting stronger can change how you feel in your body and about yourself for years to come.

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

That’s often where the good stuff starts.

You’re Not Done Yet. 💪

When I get reviews like this, I realise what a difference Not Done Yet is making to midlife women.

I’m incredibly proud and grateful to be part of all my clients journeys ❤️❤️❤️

Here’s Louise’s review.

“ I had been thinking about joining the gym for almost a year, but it wasn’t until I attended Sue’s menopause workshop that I finally took the plunge and booked my first 10 PT sessions.

I remember how nervous I was at the beginning. I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing, and I’m not the best when it comes to coordination! But Sue immediately put me at ease. She is incredibly supportive, knowledgeable and encouraging, and she made every session enjoyable.

Doing two sessions a week really helped me get into a routine, and I honestly can’t believe how far I’ve come. I never thought I’d say this, but I actually look forward to going to the gym!

After my first 10 sessions, I booked another 10 because I wanted to build my confidence and make sure I was in a good place before going it alone. I’m now coming to the end of my time with Sue, and I genuinely can’t thank her enough.

Sue has helped me become stronger, more confident and much more comfortable in the gym. She has been amazing throughout my journey, and I would highly recommend her to anyone who is thinking about starting with a PT, especially if you’re feeling nervous or unsure where to begin.

Thank you so much, Sue, for believing in me and making something I was so nervous about become something I really enjoy! ❤️💪❤️💪”
