We’ve become very good at optimising ourselves and perhaps slightly less good at actually living alongside other people.

The perfect morning routine, the steps, the protein, the skincare, the sleep score and the carefully protected calendar.

None of these things are bad but a life can be incredibly well-managed and still be missing the thing humans are built for: other humans.

Dating is inconvenient by nature. It requires leaving the house when you could stay in. Talking to someone you haven’t pre-approved, spending an evening somewhere without knowing whether it will “pay off”, and that unpredictability is precisely the point. You cannot optimise your way into a meet-cute.

Sometimes the better investment in your wellbeing is the late night, the spontaneous yes, the friend-of-a-friend, the conversation you nearly didn’t start, and occasionally, being a little tired the next morning.

Your routine will still be there tomorrow. The person you could have met might not be.

Perhaps the healthiest thing we could do is stop treating every hour of our lives like it needs to be productive…

Get ready ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

BODA is putting on the world’s biggest-ever IRL singles bookshop meet-cute (because if there’s anywhere you should accidentally fall in love, it’s between the bookshelves!)

Hundreds of singles, one Brooklyn bookshop, no swiping, no profiles. Just the increasingly radical concept of actually talking to someone you fancy.

Come alone, flirt shamelessly. Ask someone what they’re reading. Leave with a new book, a new number, or ideally both.

The dating apps could never. Tickets in our bio 👀📖💌

Meeting someone in real life has become the ultimate flex.

In a world of algorithms, endless swiping and carefully curated profiles, walking up to someone, starting a conversation and risking rejection is becoming a lost art.

Ironically, that’s exactly what makes it attractive. Chemistry was never designed to be experienced through a screen. It’s in eye contact. Timing, body language, the conversation you never expected to have.

So if you’ve been waiting for a sign to put your phone down and say hello… This is it 🫶🫶🫶

4.5 years of BODA ✨✨✨✨✨

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of it. Everyone who’s bought a ticket, hosted a social, recommended us to a friend, partnered with us, shared a post or simply backed what we’re trying to build. We wouldn’t be here without you.

We’ve built systems that make it harder than it needs to be, but I don’t think people have stopped wanting to meet people.

People want conversations that weren’t planned, they want chemistry that isn’t filtered through an app and they want to leave the house and feel like something unexpected could happen. That’s the idea we’ve been building around for the last four and a half years.

There’s no shortage of content telling us everything that’s wrong with modern dating. We see something different every week. We see people taking chances, starting conversations, making new friends, falling in love, getting engaged, getting married and building lives together !!!

There is far more good happening than most people realise. We’re excited about what’s next. More cities. More countries. More opportunities for people to meet in real life.

So keep telling us where you want BODA. We read the comments, the DMs and the emails, and they’ve played a huge part in deciding where we’ve launched so far.

Thank you 💐💐💐

Go into this week and ask someone out who you think looks interesting ✨✨✨✨✨✨Make dating lovely again 🥰💘

I don’t wanna live in a world without PDA.

Give me the couples kissing at train stations. The forehead kisses in the supermarket. The hand-holding on the walk home. The spontaneous hugs. The snogs outside the pub. The dancing in the street.

It’s human and love shouldn’t be hidden away. It should remind the rest of us what’s possible.

In a world that’s becoming increasingly disconnected, maybe public displays of affection aren’t cringe after all, maybe they’re a little bit of hope.

Long live PDA. ❤️

The night out is FINALLY having a comeback is #.

For years, we were told the apps were the only way to meet someone. Turns out, people were just waiting for an excuse to get back out into the real world. House parties. Conversations with strangers. Eye contact. Chemistry you can’t swipe for.

We’re bringing back the kind of nights where you leave with new friends, a great story, or maybe even someone’s number.

The social renaissance has begun. Everyone’s invited, as long as you’re single. 🥂❤️

Australia, this isn’t another singles night.

It’s a community of romantics built on the belief that the best relationships don’t begin with a swipe. In a world obsessed with instant chemistry, we’re creating space for something slower, more intentional and infinitely more human.

No speed dating, no games, no awkward icebreakers. Just hundreds of single people who have made the same decision: to put their phones away. We’re not here to help you collect matches. We’re here to help you build stories.

The kind that start over oysters and cocktails, become first dates, turn into relationships, and, for some, end in weddings, babies and a lifetime together.

That’s why BODA exists.

❤️ Over 95% of people come alone.
🤝 Hosts introducing guests throughout the evening.
📵 No algorithms. No pressure. Anti-ghosting community.

Since launching in London, we’ve helped create countless relationships, engagements, weddings, babies, friendships, business partnerships and flatmates, all because people chose to leave the apps behind - and leave their house.

Melbourne, it’s your turn.
