Meadowhall are launching a centre wide Quiet Hour next Tuesday, 4 August, designed to create a more inclusive and accessible shopping experience for guests who benefit from a calmer environment. Meadowhall Quiet Hour will take place every Tuesday from 10:00–11:00, with full participation from all retailers, restaurants, and leisure operators.

All retailers will support by:

• Turning off all music
• Avoiding Tannoy announcements.

The following additional measures may also be implemented by retailers:

• Switching off flashing screens
• Lowering lighting where possible
• Reducing trolley and basket movement
• Minimising checkout beeps and other electrical noises
• Turning off scent air systems and diffusers.

We are making SSENDIAS even more accessible for parents and carers by offering some new online advice appointments where you can book a 15 minute video-call slot with a caseworker to get some advice.

These sessions are not available for parents who have an existing appointment with us or have already been allocated a caseworker.

We have two dates coming up:

11th August, appointments available from 1pm
17th September, appointments available from 10am

We have increased the number of parent sessions we now offer!

We are still running sessions on SEN Support, EHC needs assessments and checking a draft EHCP, but we now also offer sessions on:

Suspensions and Exclusions
Your options following decisions from the local authority relating to an EHC needs assessment or an EHC plan.
Mediation
Completing appeal application forms
What to expect from the Tribunal process.

Please note: these sessions are only relevant to parents and carers who live in Sheffield as they will discuss local policies and processes. If you live outside of Sheffield you can contact your local SENDIAS service for support.
