Just found out you’re expecting?

Start your pregnancy care today! You can now refer yourself directly to NHS maternity services using a simple online form—no GP appointment required. If you're over 10 weeks, it's still absolutely okay to apply.

A midwife will contact you to set up your first appointment (ideally by 10 weeks, but sooner is always better).

Planning a trip abroad? Don't forget your UK GHIC!

If you're travelling overseas, a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) can give you access to medically necessary state healthcare in the EEA and certain other countries on the same basis as a local resident.

The GHIC is free to apply for and can be valid for up to 5 years. Make sure you apply through the official NHS website and avoid websites that charge a fee.

Remember, a GHIC isn't a replacement for travel insurance, so it's important to have appropriate travel insurance as well.

Planning your holiday? Apply in good time, as cards can take up to 15 working days to arrive.

Find out more and apply for your free GHIC: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/apply-for-a-free-uk-global-health-insurance-card-ghic/

Making the most of the sunshine? Don't forget to look after yourself in the heat.

Hot weather can affect anyone, so it's important to take a few simple steps to stay safe. Drink plenty of fluids, seek shade during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm), and avoid strenuous activity when temperatures are at their highest.

Small changes can make a big difference to your health and wellbeing this summer. Stay cool, stay hydrated and enjoy the sunshine safely.

On International Friendship Day, remember: you don’t need to have all the answers to be there for someone. A simple message, a listening ear, or a kind gesture can make all the difference. 🤝 Supporting a friend’s mental health starts with showing you care.
