We often think we need to do something big to feel better. But your nervous system is listening to your smallest experiences all day long.

Stopping to smell the flowers, walking in nature, humming, moving and shaking your body, giving yourself a self hug or sharing a hug with someone you love may seem simple, but each one sends your brain gentle messages of safety.

Nature is medicine, bringing calming sensory input. The 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 practice helps you come back into your senses.
Five things you can see, four things you can feel, three things you can hear, two things you can smell and one thing you can taste.

Humming creates a soothing vibration that supports the vagus nerve. Shaking helps the body release held survival energy. And hugs offer grounding, connection and the deep pressure the nervous system recognises as safe.

A nervous system does not always learn from quiet. It learns from play too, and from things that bring joy.

Joy for me is walking with Ava. It never feels like "I have to walk her". It is a joy to walk with her, being in the moment, watching her having fun, sniffing, running, chasing squirrels.

I don't listen to anything when I'm walking with Ava. I like to be in the moment. I do however use the .bird.id to help me identify the birds, really helpful on a recent walk around . 🌿

No 80's bangers, just bird song - who even am I 😉

Double figures today for our beautiful Ava
❤️🎉🐶

Ava's brought so much to our family - being the light of our lives and bringing endless love, joy and comfort. ❤️

She's also been a constant source of solace and calm for so many of my clients over the years, as therapy dog.

A little tradition: a birthday pic in her hat, handmade for her very first birthday!
🥳

Ava will be celebrating today at one of her favourite places Attingham Park NT 🐾🐶🌿

I'm sure you'll all want to wish Ava a very Happy 10th Birthday 🥳🐶🎉❤️

When I'm not in my therapy space or taking time out resetting on the water, I'm Co-Founder of a ladies group She meets Shropshire a space my lovely friend Julie Julie Richards Bo***ir and I recently created together, we've been talking about it for many months, and it's been very popular since we started.

A question we're often asked is: "What made you set it up?"

From my part, the simple answer is, in both my private life and my therapy work, loneliness and feeling isolated comes up a lot.

You don't have to be on your own to feel Ionely... sometimes you just don't have anyone to share the things you enjoy with.

Sometimes life shifts, routines change, hormonal changes or confidence dips, and you realise you're missing like-minded company.

Empty nest, bereavement, moving to a new area — all of these can leave women feeling disconnected, even when they're surrounded by people.

Connection matters for everyone, but this space is especially for women✨

And change itself plays a part too, we change and evolve all the time, and sometimes our circles don't evolve with us.

This is where connection becomes so important. It supports our mental health, our overall wellbeing, and our confidence.

Being around others, feeling part of something, can gently lift us in ways we often don't notice until it's missing.

Finding joy again in a supportive environment✨

We're not meant to stay in one emotional state.

We're meant to move through them, to let them rise and fall, to meet ourselves with softness instead of pressure.

Father's Day weekend can bring mixed emotions.

In the build-up, we can feel out of sorts, our body remembers, our heart remembers.

Grief is the price we pay for love, it's not linear and it doesn't take holidays.

I see you. Know that you're not alone and be kind to yourself ❤️

This picture of Ava with little Elvis always makes me smile …
such a special bond ❤️

A very different picture to this week. Ava's not well, resting, home from the vets and being closely monitored.

When your smallest family member can't talk... but you just know...

I've been regulating my own nervous system while caring for her, and reminded of this:

The goal isn't to feel happy all the time.
The goal is to have the capacity to feel what's here ~
without abandoning yourself in the process.

We're not meant to stay in one emotional state.
We’re meant to move through them,
to let them rise and tall, to meet ourselves with softness instead of pressure.

Regulation isn't about forcing calm.
It's about creating enough internal safety that whatever you're feeling can be held without it becoming overwhelming.
It's the quiet knowing that you can come back to yourself, again and again,
even when life feels uncertain, tender, or heavy.

Holding space for you…

Just recently I’ve had a flurry of more male clients, and it’s been really meaningful to witness.
I notice a consistent pattern of thoughts and feelings…
“I should be able to handle this myself.”
“Other people have it worse.”
“I don’t even know where to start.”

A lot of men wait until things feel really heavy before reaching out.
But no, you don’t have to handle things alone or bottle it up.
Break that generational cycle — the one passed down through dads, father figures, grandads, great‑grandads.

You don’t have to suffer in silence.

This is why I offer a blend of approaches, and the calming, relaxing Reiki has been something the men I’m working with are really benefiting from — especially if you can’t find the words initially.

One man texted…

“First, I want to thank you for the session yesterday, honestly I can’t put it into words. I feel a lot lighter in my mind and I slept much better last night. Looking forward already for another session.”

It’s been an honour to support the men who’ve stepped through my door. You deserve that same calm and relaxation too.

Crystals can bring a little calm into the day✨

A gentle way to steady the mind and body.... sometimes the smallest things help us feel grounded.

Simple, natural ways that take us back to our roots, calming and soothing.

I often recommend crystals as little worry stones to hold when feeling anxious, stressed or restless, a calming sensory, a gentle grounding tool ✨

The kind of moment that stays with you ✨…

Savouring is one of those quiet things that helps the nervous system shift out of survival.
It's simply lingering with the small moments, the comfort, the pleasure, the tiny bits of connection your
body actually responds to.

And the more we savour those everyday moments, the more our nervous system learns, “Oh... this is what safety feels like. I can soften here."
It builds capacity in such a gentle, steady way.

I had a beautiful experience last weekend where savouring, awe, and a glimmer all rolled into one ~ glimmers, the opposite of triggers, those tiny moments of awe.
An early morning paddleboard session, the lake completely still, just us out there.
And then a family of swans appeared, babies in tow ~ gliding right up to our boards.

They stayed so close for ages, totally unbothered, just sharing the water with us.
It felt precious. One of those quiet moments your body actually takes in without you trying.
A little pocket of beauty and safety that stays with you.

Even something as simple as taking a few extra seconds with a warm drink can bring a little sense of
safety back into the body.
It doesn't have to be big.Just noticed.Just felt.Just received.
