Whilst building my forthcoming new website, I have needed to change some of my services as they have evolved somewhat over the last few years and are continuing to do so.

My sports massage initial consultation and follow up appointments have remained the same as has scar therapy. The main change is that I subdividing Manual Lymphatic Drainage into two options; Lymphoedema Management and Post Operative Recovery.

I have made this change as both options are distinctly different from one another in terms of the services provided.

Post Operative Recovery is now a fully developed service offering MLD, Scar Therapy and more specific advice on compression garments, side effects of the surgery and skincare etc. It also includes discounted pricing on scar therapy alone for up-to 2 years after discharge.

Lymphoedema Management is an evolving service which currently includes MLD for chronic lymphoedema and post cancer patients. At the end of this year it will expand to include the full chronic lymphoedema package including compression and bandaging etc.

Whichever service you are interested in, I am always more than happy to discuss your requirements before you book.

I am really excited. Really really excited! Why? Because my new website is coming together very nicely. I spent quite a chunk of last weekend writing about post operative manual lymphatic drainage and a compiling a FAQ’s page.

After several meetings with various web designers I finally settled on Debbie Wales from Girl Friday Web-design who is well underway with building the site and it is looking fabulous.

I look forward to announcing that the site has gone live, hopefully within the next few weeks.

Are you considering or planning cosmetic surgery? If so, I’m sure you have been researching which hospital and/or which surgeon you are going to entrust with your body. You may have spoken with people who have had previous surgeries, read online reviews and joined social media forums in order to select your ideal healthcare professional but have you considered your recovery yet?

Following cosmetic surgery, many surgeons will recommend Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) to help you with your recovery. But who should you choose? There is a wide range of misinformation on the internet, especially on social media about MLD. There are also a lot of practitioners who claim to be qualified and ā€˜expert’ in this field of therapy. Before you choose your MLD therapist, ask them about their qualifications.Ask to see their certification and look their qualifications and training school up online to see how long they studied and if their training was online only or included face to face, hands on training. Find out if their qualification requires regular re validation or not. Also, check online on the MLD-UK and/or the British Lymphology Society website to see if they are registered. If they are you can be certain that they have been rigorously trained and that their training requires regular re validation in order to remain on the register.

Cosmetic surgery may well be one of the most expensive things that you ever purchase for you. You may choose the best surgeon that you can afford but it might be a waste if you haven’t chosen the best person for your recovery.

With another day of scorching temperatures topping out at up to 34 degrees, my mind has been concerned with the cooler autumn months ahead.

As part of my ongoing commitment to continue developing my knowledge and skills, I have a packed programme of educational activities planned for September through to the end of the year.

On September 26th I am off to London for the First Lymphoedema Symposium courtesy of Juzo. A couple of weeks later I am attending the British Lymphology Society Conference 2026 which is being held at Chester Racecourse on October 5th, 6th and 7th. Then at the end of November I will return to the NEC for 2 days at The Therapy Show (Formerly Therapy Expo) for what has become one of the highlights of my year (I know, how sad). To finish the year I am back at The Lymphoedema Training Academy in Stafford to complete my Advanced Lymphoedema Management certification. This course ends just in time to finish for a well deserved Christmas break (Aaaaah! Sorry! I used the dreaded C word in July!).

Of course, in between all of this I will still be working hard to help all of my fantastic clients.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a technique that is currently attracting lots of interest around the world but is also generating lots of misinformation.

There are lots of practitioners claiming to be experts in the field after completing one or two day courses or even worse, online courses.

As an LTA trained MLD Therapist I believe in regular, high quality education in order to constantly strive to update and improve my knowledge. To this end; I am not only a member of MLD-UK but I am also a member of the British Lymphology Society.

Before you spend your money on MLD, please make sure you check out the credentials of your therapist. There are lots of therapists out there who are happy to charge you lots of money in exchange for poor technique, very little knowledge or experience and no ongoing developmental training.

Since leaving my full time job at the beginning of the month, my feet haven’t touched the ground. Ahead of me lies another full week of jobs to be ticked off my to do list (in between clinics). However? last Thursday, my evening clients all wanted to reschedule their appointments as the heat wave intensified. I therefore made an instant decision to close my diary down and take the day off. I’d already closed Fridays bookings off as I was heading off to Manchester to help my daughter move house.

There are many downsides to self employment but last week, the ability to dodge the heat (I’m not particularly fond of hot weather) and just take some time off was priceless.

Have a great week everyone!

Today I have been at a fantastic training event in Leicester courtesy of Juzo. As well as learning about compression garments and how to measure patients correctly I have also had some hands on experience of bandaging male ge***alia for the treatment of ge***al lymphoedema! The second picture is of my first attempt at compressive bandaging… not bad for a complete novice 😁

Thanks to Mark Pearson and Stephanie Lowen for their excellent presentations and to Suki Kaur for organising a brilliant day.

As with all good training, I have picked up lots of new information as well as highlighting how much more I am yet to learn.
