Life can be hard sometimes. There are moments when everything feels too much, when your mind won't switch off, when relationships feel strained, or when you're carrying worries, sadness, grief, anger, or stress that you don't quite know what to do with. You don't need to be in crisis to come to counselling. Sometimes people get in touch because they feel stuck, lost, overwhelmed, or simply because they need somewhere to talk honestly without feeling judged, interrupted, or having to put on a brave face.

Talking things through with someone outside of your family and friendship circle can be incredibly freeing. Counselling gives you the chance to be completely yourself, to say the things you've been holding onto, and to explore what's really going on beneath the surface. My role isn't to tell you what to do or have all the answers. Instead, I'll walk alongside you, listen carefully, and help you make sense of whatever you're facing. Whether you're dealing with a specific issue or just feeling that life isn't quite how you'd like it to be, you don't have to carry it all on your own. Sometimes, having someone truly listen can be the first step towards feeling lighter, clearer, and more like yourself again.

Growth Happens Just Outside Our Comfort Zone

I’m now two months into my Couples & Relationships Counselling training, and it’s been quite a journey already.

Couples counselling is often considered more complex and emotionally demanding than individual therapy, and I can certainly see why. Working with two people, two perspectives, and the dynamics between them brings a whole new layer of understanding, skill, and awareness.

As a person-centred counsellor, that approach remains at the heart of my work, but this training is introducing me to additional theories, techniques, and ways of thinking that are stretching me professionally and personally. There have been plenty of moments where I’ve felt outside my comfort zone, but that’s often where the greatest learning takes place.

Today, we had the opportunity to practise our skills with some excellent actors portraying a variety of relationship scenarios. We worked through challenges, received feedback, and supported one another through the process. As the nerves settled and confidence grew, something really valuable emerged - a deeper appreciation for the skill, dedication, and responsibility involved in relationship counselling.

Learning never stops in this profession, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to grow so that I can better support the people who place their trust in me.

Sometimes the most challenging steps are the ones that help us develop the most.

I offer a warm, empathetic, and confidential counselling space where you can feel secure and supported. A space where you can talk freely and feel heard, where your thoughts and feelings truly matter.

I’ve just finished a baby blanket and cardigan — the first baby clothing I’ve ever made. There’s something really satisfying about turning a simple ball of yarn into something warm, useful and made with care.

The rhythm of crochet helps me slow down, settle my mind and focus on the moment. And at the end of it, I have something tangible to hold that reminds me what can be created, one stitch at a time.

What do you do that helps you feel calm and grounded?

A little about me

I’m a dog mum to two big Rottweilers- and they bring me immense joy.

Outside of counselling, you’ll usually find me crocheting, gardening, growing veg and a few flowers, or enjoying a coffee with friends.

I’ve always been a people person. Over the years, people have often opened up to me in the most ordinary places — on a bus, in a supermarket queue, or while waiting at the vets. I’ve been told I have an open face, a calm presence, and that people often feel a little better after talking things through. Listening has always come naturally to me.

As I got older and gathered more life experience, I decided to retrain as a counsellor. Honestly, it’s one of the best work decisions I’ve ever made.

I’m a qualified person-centred counsellor and I work from my quiet, tranquil garden room. (The Rottweilers stay inside — because, let’s be honest, not everyone is a fan of the breed.)

If you feel we might be a good fit to work together, I’d love to hear from you.

I love being a counsellor. There, I said it.

I’ve always been a big listener, but training in active listening has deepened that in ways I didn’t expect.

To sit with someone’s story, listen carefully, notice the threads, hold the important pieces gently, and reflect them back so that clients can really hear themselves, can open the door to those quiet ā€œah haā€ moments of clarity.

It’s a privilege to witness people make sense of their experiences, grow in confidence, and begin to see things differently.

The smiles, the thanks, the small shifts that matter — they stay with me.

It feels deeply meaningful, and always humbling.

If you feel we may be a good fit to work together, please do not hesitate to contact me.
