With all the misinformation out there about food, diet and weight loss, it's no wonder we get confused and put all sorts of foods we enjoy on the banned list.

This causes a loss of confidence in making food choices by ourselves, and leaves us feeling we can only make progress if we follow a plan chosen by someone else.

Thankfully, that's not the case. By understanding why these foods are good for you and can even support fat loss, you put yourself back in the driving seat and decide what to eat to get the results you want.

If you're super keen and have a stash of boiled eggs all ready to go, this is a very speedy lunch indeed.

Add chickpeas, butter beans or black beans for extra fibre, protein and loveliness, or to replace the eggs and fish.

Capers or chopped gherkins would work well too if the pickled red cabbage feels a bit too 1980s. And have toasted pitta soldiers on the side for an extra boost if you fancy it.

Prep ahead to take to work the next day - just add the salad leaves in the morning to avoid a soggy mess.

Thrown-together, big bowl meals are my favourites. Whether you're managing your weight or just want to stay energised for the afternoon, this has you covered. Yum.

Urgh, food noise.

Can I eat this?
But I already had...
Is it too early/late/much/little?
Is it fattening?
Is it too processed?
What about the sugar?
Am I really hungry?
What if someone makes a comment?
I'll just have a taste
What should I order?
Can I have dessert?
Are bananas really ok?*

If you're familiar with the incessant drone of food noise, this might strike a chord.

It's the endless over-thinking, second-guessing and self-doubt that takes up far too much brain space, when we've all got much better things to think about.

Weight loss medication can have a lifechanging impact, but it's not a silver bullet.

To keep enjoying the results you've waited so long to see, there are certain things you can do, both during and after the treatment (the sooner the better!).

Understanding what was going on before, learning how to feel confident making food choices, nourishing your body and mind, and building new habits will all help improve your chances of keeping the weight off for good.

For me it was always cheap pastry slices with questionable meat fillings, naff crisps (onion rings, anyone?), big double choc chip cookies and pepperoni pizzas.

These were the kind of foods that once I'd had a taste, I felt I couldn't stop until I'd polished off the lot.

I always thought it was because I lacked willpower, was greedy or had no self-control.

But it's not about that at all.

Our brains are hard-wired to find this stuff irresistible and once we know that, it's much easier to be kind and to see things from a different angle.

And to make more of a conscious choice to eat them or not.
