What is Dao?

The Dao is the underlying way or process from which all things arise.

Everything exists through or within the Dao, rather than being separate from it.

The Dao isn't usually described as a god or a thing; it's the natural order and the source of all phenomena.

Living well means aligning with the Dao rather than constantly struggling against it.

✨Meet our student of the week, Marie, who was introduced to Shibashi through her Nan and originally began training for her own health. Marie sees the potential for Tai Chi Shibashi to offer something valuable to people of all ages, and would love to see it become more widely recognised among younger adults and teenagers too.

BLOG OF THE WEEK!

The Tai Chi Mind is a way of being – soft, flowing and present – that aligns us with the Dao, the natural rhythm of the universe.

Master Andy Baggott continues his exploration into the Tai Chi mind. Parts 1 and 2 of this series explored how Tai Chi and Qigong cultivate a serene, connected mind through Daoist principles like non-attachment, acceptance, breathing and smiling, and how these can transform daily life.

In this third part, the focus is on how the Tai Chi Mind fosters resilience, empowering us to face life’s storms with the same balance and grace we cultivate in our Shibashi forms.

The Tai Chi Mind (Part 3): Building Resilience through the Tai Chi Mind

Chinese Mythology and Culture.
Written in the Stars: Mythological origins of the Chinese celestial animals, by Dr Maria Teresa Agozzino
The Four Symbols began as astronomical observations and evolved into powerful symbols of cosmic order. The Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger and Black Tortoise represent directions, seasons and elemental forces, helping explain the universe’s structure. Their lasting presence in Chinese culture reflects an enduring quest to find harmony between humanity and the cosmos.

BLOG OF THE WEEK!

The Tai Chi Mind (Part 2): Cultivating the Tai Chi Mind in Daily Life follows last week's introduction to Master Andy Baggott's series on the Tai Chi Mind.

Here, Andy explains how The Tai Chi Mind extends practice into everyday life through non-attachment, acceptance, mindful breathing, smiling and curiosity. By applying these Daoist principles to daily challenges with patience and consistency, we cultivate greater calm, resilience, harmony and presence, transforming ordinary moments into opportunities for growth and balance.

The true power of the Tai Chi Mind lies in extending the principles of non-attachment, acceptance, breathing and smiling beyond weekly or even daily practice into every moment of our lives. In this second part, we will delve into how to cultivate the Tai Chi Mind in daily life, transforming routine....

Confucius is traditionally believed to have lived from 551 BCE to 479 BCE. His teachings later became the foundation of the Confucian school of philosophy, emphasising ethics, education, virtue, respect and good governance through moral character and lifelong learning.

With the practice of Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi, we cultivate physical vitality, emotional balance and spiritual well-being, following a path toward harmony, virtue and wisdom.
