There are few things better than a morning on Salisbury Plain, and today certainly didn’t disappoint. ☀️🐎

We had the pleasure of taking one of Georgie Ash Equestrian’s quality horses out for hound exercise this morning, and he was an absolute gentleman from start to finish.

As always, it’s a pleasure working so closely with Georgie. We see many of her horses regularly, helping to keep them performing and feeling their best, so it’s always great to get out and experience them under saddle ourselves. This lovely horse was a joy to ride - full up without being strong, beautifully balanced, comfortable with three quality paces, and an absolute gent to tack up, handle, and enjoy all morning. A real credit to Georgie and one that will undoubtedly make someone a fantastic hunting partner.

A huge thank you to the Royal Artillery Hunt staff and everyone involved for such a warm welcome. It was wonderful to out with the hounds on a glorious Salisbury Plain morning.

Exciting news – CG² Chiropractic is expanding!

As my equine practice continues to grow, I’ve expanded my availability to support more horses with professional, gentle and evidence-informed chiropractic care.

Meet Pluto … This week I had the pleasure of treating Pluto, one of George’s hunting hounds, who had been experiencing some discomfort associated with her sacroiliac (SI) joint and pelvis.

Just like any active dog, hounds can develop musculoskeletal issues through the demands of everyday life, exercise, and work. SI joint restrictions and pelvic dysfunction are something we see regularly in canine practice and are by no means uncommon. Left unaddressed, they can affect comfort, movement, performance, and overall wellbeing.
Following a full assessment, Pluto received a treatment programme tailored to her needs, including:

- Soft tissue therapy
- Chiropractic adjustments
- Fascial release
- Joint mobilisation
- Therapeutic stretching

She responded extremely well to treatment and was already showing improved movement and comfort by the end of the session.

To support her recovery, George has been carrying out daily stretching exercises along with gentle solo walking to maintain mobility and encourage optimal movement patterns between treatments. We will be reassessing Pluto next week to monitor her progress and make any further adjustments if required.

This is a standard part of the care we provide for many hounds. Our aim is not only to address current issues but also to ensure they are moving optimally, functioning through a healthy neuromusculoskeletal system, and remaining in the best physical condition possible. Regular assessment and treatment help keep these incredible canine athletes comfortable, resilient, and performing at their best.

With so much discussion currently surrounding the future of hunting, I think it is important to highlight the level of care, attention, and welfare support that many working hounds receive throughout their lives. Cases like Pluto’s demonstrate the commitment that huntsmen and hunt staff have to maintaining the health, comfort, and wellbeing of their hounds, not only when issues arise but through ongoing preventative care and management.

From Galway Plate Winner to RoR Star

Shanahan’s Turn enjoyed a distinguished career under both Henry de Bromhead and Colin Tizzard, with highlights including victory in the 2015 Galway Plate, a Grade 2 Novice Chase success, and a brilliant runner-up finish in the 2018 Topham Chase over Aintree’s famous Grand National fences as part of a memorable Tizzard 1–2.

Now retired from racing and partnered with Mikayla Curtis, Shanahan’s Turn is thriving in his next chapter as a RoR horse. From hacking and showing to clinics and new challenges, he has transitioned seamlessly from the racecourse into a varied and active lifestyle, proving that life after racing can be just as rewarding.

After enjoying a few months off, we are looking forward to working alongside Mikayla and Shanahan’s Turn throughout the summer to support his return to work and continued development heading into the winter months. Building strength, coordination, adaptability, and resilience during this period is key as he progresses in his new career and takes on the different demands that come with life beyond racing.
As horses move from one discipline to another, the physical demands placed on their bodies change significantly. Different activities create different stressors, requiring the musculoskeletal and nervous systems to adapt and perform in new ways. This is where equine chiropractic care can play an important role.

At CG² Chiropractic, we are passionate about supporting horses throughout every stage of their journey, whether they are transitioning from racing, returning from injury, undergoing rehabilitation, or working to prevent injury and reduce the risk of reoccurrence. By focusing on neurobiomechanics, movement quality, and whole-body function, we aim to help horses perform comfortably, move efficiently, and maintain longevity in their careers.

We are excited to be part of Shanahan’s Turn’s ongoing journey and to support both horse and rider as they continue building towards their goals this season and beyond.

From Cavago Associated Dressage Championships 2025 to thr start of the 2026 season… first qualification already in the bag.

Watching James and Fergus develop such a strong partnership last season was incredible, and their performances at the Championships were a real reflection of the hard work, consistency and commitment that has gone in behind the scenes.

Fergus was an absolute superstar at the Championships - relaxed, happy and performing brilliantly in every environment.

At CG² Chiropractic, we are proud to support James throughout his riding across multiple horses. High-level riding demands strength, balance, mobility, control and resilience, and chiropractic care plays an important role in helping riders perform at their best. From strength, rehabilitation and recovery to maintaining symmetry, posture and overall movement quality in the saddle, it’s rewarding to see that support contributing towards success at championship level.

Last season was a huge success and James is marching huge achievements already this season. An exciting summer ahead, we cannot wait to see what’s next for James and Fergus.

Owned, trained, and ridden by Katie Rossiter, Cintia is continuing to develop beautifully in the dressage arena with strength, elegance, and harmony.

CG² Chiropractic is helping support Cintia development by improving her suppleness, ability to bend and flex evenly while focusing on coordination and balance through transitions - all essential for a dressage horse.

By helping the body move more freely and efficiently, Cintia is able to work with greater balance, relaxation, and confidence in her training and competition work.

We look forward to continuing to support Cintia over the summer season as she progresses with her work and competition journey.

Sarah Glover is passionate about creating true harmony between horse and rider. Recently she has been combining her life in polo with a growing understanding of neurobiomechanics, rider performance and chiropractic care for both horse and human combating the physical demands that polo places on both athlete and horse.

Human and equine chiropractic treatment has a focus on alignment, posture, nervous system function and movement patterns, we have seen how these directly affect performance, balance and communication in the saddle, especially in a sport as fast and technical as polo, that connection can make all the difference.
