A very special week at Princess House ✨

There were big celebrations at Princess House as our wonderful Elizabeth celebrated her 100th birthday! 🎉

Elizabeth marked the occasion with a fantastic party, live entertainment, and the company of her family and friends. She also received a special birthday card from His Majesty The King, along with lots of beautiful cards and letters from the pupils at Fulwell Junior School, making the milestone even more memorable 💌👑

Alongside the celebrations, residents have been keeping active with plenty of games, a lively round of Play Your Cards Right, and a trip along Seaburn seafront for ice creams while enjoying the lovely weather 🍦☀️

Recent moments at Springfield Lodge 💚

Residents have been enjoying plenty of time out in the community, with Iris, Gloria and Margaret taking a walk to Jubilee Hall to visit the newly opened community café ☕

Joe enjoyed some one-to-one time playing dominoes, one of his favourite activities.

Margaret lent a helping hand by preparing hampers and prizes for our upcoming Summer Fayre, while others enjoyed relaxing in the garden and having fun with some games in the sunshine.

Recent highlights at Princess House 💚

Residents have been making the most of the lovely weather with walks along Seaburn seafront, including a stop at Minchella's for a well-earned ice cream by the sea 🍦☀️

Back at the home, we've enjoyed plenty of games, quizzes, arts and crafts, and lots of dominoes, which continues to be a firm favourite.

To celebrate National Chocolate Day, residents dipped strawberries in chocolate and baked crispy cakes and flapjacks for everyone to enjoy from the afternoon tea trolley. There was plenty of fun, laughter and, of course, some delicious treats! 🍓🍫

We also celebrated the lovely Gwen's 80th birthday! 🎂

Recent highlights at Langley House 💚

We've enjoyed another lovely trip to the Ark in Horden for our weekly coffee morning, catching up with local friends over a hot drink and a chat ☕

Our weekly baking session was another success, with residents making delicious brownies for everyone to enjoy.

There has also been plenty of fun with a variety of games throughout the week, including skittles, Connect 4, Wake Up and Shake Up, tennis and Tin Can Alley.

Residents also got creative during an arts and crafts afternoon, spending time making and decorating together.

A huge thank you to Cheryl and everyone at Horden Community Events Association for kindly donating a fantastic BBQ for our residents and visitors. We're looking forward to enjoying plenty of summer BBQs together! 💛

You're invited to Springfield Lodge's Summer Fair! ☀️

Join us for an afternoon of fun, fundraising and community on Saturday 18th July, from 2pm–4pm.

There'll be something for everyone, including:
🎟️ Tombola and raffle
🎁 Fantastic prizes
🧁 Cakes and sweet treats
🥤 Refreshments
🎪 A variety of stalls

🎫 Raffle tickets are on sale now for just £1 per strip, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs, including Beamish Museum day passes and local restaurant vouchers.

We're also looking for donations to help make this year's Summer Fair our best yet. If you have any new and unopened items, bottles, gift sets, vouchers or raffle prizes you'd be happy to donate, we'd be incredibly grateful.

Every penny raised goes directly towards our residents' fund, helping us create special activities, events and experiences throughout the year.

We'd love to see you there! 💛

This week at The Gardens 💚

Residents have been enjoying some of their favourite activities, including Play Your Cards Right and fun parachute games, bringing plenty of laughter and friendly competition.

We also celebrated Howard's birthday 🎂

Recent highlights at Langley House 💚

We've enjoyed another lovely trip to the Ark coffee morning in Horden, catching up with friends over dominoes, cakes and a good chat.

Back at the home, residents have been keeping active with bingo, parachute games, hockey, and pool noodle activities.

A real highlight of the week was welcoming performer Sadie, who took us on a musical world cruise with fantastic performances and impressive costume changes throughout the show 🎶

Residents also had a great time at the Horden Comrades Memory Café, organised by Horden Events Association, where everyone enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment and reminiscing.

Ernie also took a trip down memory lane with a visit to Horden Cricket Ground, where he enjoyed watching a game of cricket and reminiscing about days gone by. 🏏

🧑‍🍳 🥗 There's something new cooking at Ascot Care! 🥗🧑‍🍳

We're delighted to share that Chris Northmore has joined us as our new Executive Chef, and that a brand new menu is now being served across all of our homes.

Chris has spent 17 years in professional kitchens, from top London restaurants to cooking for professional athletes, and he brings that same standard to our tables: wholesome food made from fresh, seasonal ingredients that's a real treat to eat.

The new four-week menu is the same in every home, with two dishes to choose from at both lunch and dinner, a continental and cooked breakfast each morning, and a freshly made dessert every day. Softer-textured meals and special diets are always catered for, with clear allergen information alongside every dish.

Recent highlights at Westoe Grange 💚

We’ve had a wonderful week at Westoe Grange, starting with a fantastic performance from the PRS choir group, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed 🎶

Residents were also delighted to meet Magnolia, our new pet therapy dog. At just two years old, she was a real hit and brought plenty of smiles to the home 🐾

There was lots of creativity too, with residents making daisy chains during arts and crafts.

To round things off, we enjoyed baking some delicious fruit and cherry scones! 🍒
