This year’s UK Mental Health Awareness Week runs 11th – 17th May 2026, and the theme is “Action”, led by the Mental Health Foundation.
Awareness matters, mental health affects everyone at some point, directly or indirectly. Campaigns can help people to recognise signs of mental health struggles, know when and how to seek help, support friends, family and colleagues.
The week aims to:
- Increase understanding of mental health issues
- Encourage people to talk openly about their experiences
- Promote ways to improve mental wellbeing
- Challenge stigma and discrimination
Here are some easy ways to take part this week:
For yourself
- Go for a walk (even 10–15 minutes helps)
- Put your phone down for an hour
- Get outside in daylight
- Do one thing you’ve been putting off that’s weighing on you
- Take proper rest without feeling guilty
For someone else
- Check in with someone you haven’t spoken to in a while
- Ask “How are you really doing?” and listen
- Offer practical help (not just “let me know if you need anything”)
The support around us may not always be enough. Professional help is always available, if you feel you need support please do not hesitate to contact me;
