On Wednesday, we had a visit from Declan from St Theresa's Church in Totton for one of our regular church services.

It is really important for our residents to be able to celebrate their faith through prayer, bible readings and reflection on them and singing hymns.

A special thank you to Declan and to the team at Testwood Baptists, who attend regularly to facilitate this.

We played Bingo in the Ballroom on Tuesday and by gosh, it took a long time to get going. Our numbers just weren't coming up!

We almost got to lunchtime before the calls of "BINGO" were being called out all around the room. We managed to squeeze in 5 winners!

Surprise surprise...biscuits are always a popular prize.

We've had a busy week here at Colbury House Nursing home.
The week started with Eddie from G-Fit putting us through our paces with a range of seated exercises to maintain balance and strength to support our joints.
We aim to keep residents mobile and to prevent falls by promoting appropriate supervised movement adapted to their needs.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come along and join in.

Here are next week's plans.

We have really enjoyed listening to records on a record player this week . However the one we are currently using is borrowed and we have to return it. We are getting our own portable record player but are in need of records. If any one has any vinyl records they would like to donate for our resident's enjoyment, we would love to have them.

We've had another trip with Solent Dolphins on the Alison MacGregor out into the River Itchen from Hythe Marina.
It was a beautiful sunny day; just look at the colour of the water!
We even trusted Abi to steer the boat - although I was concerned when the skipper instructed him to steer towards the big red ship!
As usual we enjoyed a fish and chip lunch on the quayside - it's amazing what a bit of fresh sea air does for the appetite.

We've had a very busy month already and I have lots of photos to catch up on!
Gorgeous Daisy and Buddy came to visit with their handler Kelly. It's delightful to see smiles on everyone's faces as they stroked these little furry, squeaky guinea pigs. They were so well behaved -the guinea pigs I mean. Buddy and Daisy munched through a mountain of green, including lettuce, kale, peppers, celery and cucumber - and no fingers were nipped.

Today we have made and enjoyed some refreshing summery drinks- perfect on this hot day.
We had a choice of cooling cucumber and mint, with lime and extra melon or sweet strawberry with sparking water and a squeeze of lemon or lovely sharp raspberry.
We chose sugar cubes to sweeten the drinks if we wanted - we hadn't seen them in ages!
Ron enjoyed using the muddler to squash down the fruit.
We made 5 one litre jugs of drinks and everyone enjoyed something a little bit different.

This week, residents at Colbury House have been using their creative talents to create a kaleidoscope of butterflies. I didn't know that was the collective noun for butterflies!
It is all part of the OOMPH!wellness Summer of Wellbeing Arts and Craft competition.
i think everyone is a winner!
We used watercolour paints, felt tips and pencils and blended the colours with water.
We really enjoyed the colouring and being able to express ourselves in colour.
They look wonderful on the tree in our Ballroom lounge.
Be sure to check them out when you come to visit. In this hot weather they look lovely and summery.
