Being busy isn't the only reason you feel stressed. Your body can generate its own stress, even when life slows down and there's nothing obvious triggering it.

Intrinsic v's extrinsic..always present.

Your nervous system is doing a brilliant job, truly it is...
Just the wrong job.
It's protecting you from a threat that left ages ago, running last year's security program on this year's life.

Body keeping score..is that a thing?

In my experience, I wouuld definately say yes!!

This phenomena has been discussed many times with books named specifically that.

But is it really a score to be settled, can we deal with it before it needs settling...yes that is possible. Your body is genuinely shouting at you to deal with something that you have suppressed, bot processed or not had the right the tools at the time to process whatever it is.

What are your thoughts, does the body keep score?

Progress doesn’t always look like a huge transformation.

Sometimes it’s going to the supermarket. Attending a doctor’s appointment. Taking the dog for a walk during the day.

Things that may seem quite ordinary to someone else can be significant when anxiety has made your world smaller.

“I 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺.”

That statement means a whole lot. She is working at her own pace, in her own time, one small moment at a time.

The anxiety hasn't suddenly disappeared but her confidence is building, gently and steadily; gradually opening the world back up for her.

Stress anyone?

Hypnotherapy can help you find your calm in the storm but also teach you how to find your calm whenever you need it.

Or change it up so that your stress triggers are no longer an issue, just a blip rather than a fully fledged mountain.

When progress seems to stop, it can feel like a sign that something isn't working. Often it isn't.

Periods of apparent stillness are a normal part of how change consolidates. Not every phase looks like forward movement from the inside.

The stressful situation has passed.

You know things are calmer. You know you don’t need to be on high alert. You may even have told yourself several times to relax.

Yet the response is still there.

This is where knowing and experiencing can be two very different things.

If anticipating, rushing, bracing or staying alert has become familiar, consciously knowing that things are okay may not be enough to change what happens automatically.

This is one of the reasons hypnosis can be useful. It gives us a way of working with those automatic responses, rather than relying on reasoning alone.

If you’ve wondered what hypnosis actually feels like, you can try my free 30-minute recording for yourself.

Being busy can make you stressed.

But being stressed doesn’t necessarily mean you’re too busy.

Sometimes you can handle the big, hectic days surprisingly well, then find yourself completely overwhelmed because someone asked what you want for dinner.

It can feel completely out of proportion.

But stress isn’t a simple measure of how much you have on your plate. Previous experiences, expectations and familiar patterns can all influence how you respond to what’s happening now.

That’s why reducing your workload might help, but not necessarily change the automatic response underneath it.

If the circumstances have changed but the same reactions keep showing up, perhaps the workload isn’t the only thing worth looking at.
