🌿 When did you last actually lie down in the grass?

Not sit on it. Not walk barefoot across it. Actually lie down, close your eyes and just… be there.

I did exactly that today and immediately felt like my inner child had appeared. 💚

The feel of the grass beneath me.
The smell of the earth.
The sounds you only seem to notice when you stop moving.
That feeling of being completely surrounded by green.

It took me straight back to being a child, when lying on the grass staring at the sky was just something we did. No phone. No agenda. No need to make it productive.

There’s something rather lovely about finding those tiny moments again as an adult.

So here’s your little hit of happiness for today…

Find yourself a safe patch of green, lie down, close your eyes and stay there for a few minutes.

I bet you’ll know exactly what I mean. 🌿💚

My eyes are officially screaming ENOUGH SCREEN TIME 👀💻

The last few days have been very laptop, phone, laptop, phone, repeat… and tonight I can absolutely feel it.

So this evening’s little hit of happiness is going to involve my eye patches firmly in place, followed by the rather delightful NIOD copper peptide I’ve just started using around my eyes. ✨

And yes, the eye patches will almost certainly be making another appearance tomorrow morning too!

Sometimes wellness isn’t another big routine or complicated biohack. Sometimes it’s simply noticing what your body is telling you and giving it a little bit of TLC.

Although perhaps the actual biohack here would be putting the bloody laptop down… 😂

48. Perimenopausal. Running businesses. Travelling all over the place. Carrying approximately 47 supplements at any given moment and increasingly likely to take my shoes off and stand on the grass. 😂

Coffee in hand, cosy cardigan on and straight out into the garden. ☕🌿

One of the simplest habits I’ve built into my mornings is grounding. No fancy equipment, no expensive membership. Just bare feet on the grass, a few quiet moments and a chance to slow down before the day gathers pace.

Whether the science is still evolving or not, I know my own “N of 1”. I feel calmer, more present and more connected after just a few minutes outside. It has become one of those tiny daily habits that helps set the tone for everything that follows.

I’ve also been really enjoying the wellness content from Liz Earle recently. She’s a passionate advocate for getting outside, reconnecting with nature and making grounding part of everyday wellbeing. Her podcast on the subject is well worth a listen and has some fascinating insights into why so many people find it beneficial.

If you’re curious and would like somewhere to start…

Sometimes the biggest changes come from the smallest daily habits.

Not everyone gets excited about a coffee… but this one is doing a lot more than just waking me up. ☕🧠

My morning coffee is a bit of a ritual and, yes, I always take a cheeky extra swig before I head out the door. 😄

What’s in mine?

🥥 C8 MCT oil
🧈 Grass fed butter
🤍 Grass fed collagen peptides
☕ Fresh coffee

Why?

The star of the show for me is the C8 MCT oil. Unlike most fats, C8 is rapidly converted by your liver into ketones, which can be used as an alternative fuel source for your brain. I find it gives me smooth, sustained mental energy without the crash that can come from relying on sugar.

The grass fed butter adds healthy fats that help make the coffee satisfying and keeps me feeling fuller for longer.

The collagen is there because, whilst it’s not a complete protein, it’s a simple way to support healthy skin, joints and connective tissue. As someone in perimenopause, I’m always looking for small daily habits that support me in the background.

I’ve been making my coffee this way for well over six years now, so for me this definitely isn’t a fad. It’s one of those habits that has stood the test of time. We all have our own “N of 1” experiment, and this one consistently works for me. Better focus, more stable energy and one small ritual that sets me up for the day.

This isn’t about replacing breakfast or saying everyone should drink bulletproof coffee. It’s simply one of the little habits that works brilliantly for me, especially on busy mornings when I need clear thinking and steady energy.

And yes… there will always be that one extra cheeky swig before I put the lid on. 😉

Some mornings the motivation arrives before I do.

Other mornings… it needs a little encouragement. ☕🌿

So far today I’ve scheduled social posts for some lovely new products arriving in the shops, and now it’s time to tackle a mountain of admin before I spend the afternoon showing visitors from America around Dundee as part of the Dundee & Alexandria Twinning Association.

The MCT is onboard, the usual wellness routine is done, but I think today’s missing ingredient might just be a good coffee and a wander around the garden before I get stuck in.

Here’s to knowing when to push… and when five quiet minutes outside might actually be the most productive thing you do all day.

Happy Wednesday! 💚

I’ve fallen down another skincare rabbit hole… 🧴🔬

I’ve just started using two NIOD products:
✨ Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate (FECC)
✨ Copper Amino Isolate Lipid 1% (CAIL)

One of the reasons I was drawn to these is that NIOD seems far more transparent than many skincare brands. Rather than relying on vague marketing buzzwords, they explain the science behind their formulations and, where possible, tell you much more about what you’re actually putting on your skin. That really appeals to me because I like to understand why a product should work, not just be told that it will!

I’d love to hear from anyone who has actually used either of these.

🤍 How do you apply them in your routine?
🤍 What changes did you notice first?
🤍 How long did it take before you could genuinely see results?
🤍 What should I realistically expect over 4, 8 and 12 weeks?
🤍 Did you take before and after photos?
🤍 Are there any mistakes to avoid?
🤍 Have you found any other peptide brands that are just as transparent about their formulations and ingredients?

I’m not looking for miracle claims, just honest experiences from people who have used them consistently.

If you’ve got photos, tips, or even products you think outperform these, I’d love to hear about them. I’d also be really interested to know whether transparency matters to you when choosing skincare, or if you simply go by the results.

Let’s build a genuinely useful thread for anyone curious about evidence-led peptide skincare.

One of my favourite mornings from last week. 🤍

Emma, my school bestie, took me to explore the Humber Dock Street area of Hull and I absolutely loved it.

Independent coffee shops, fantastic seafood restaurants, vintage clothing stores, art galleries and beautifully curated little shops around every corner. Exactly the sort of place I could happily spend hours wandering.

It’s always the places the locals recommend that end up being the highlights of a trip, and this was no exception.

A huge thank you to Emma for playing tour guide. You showed me a side of Hull I might never have found on my own, and I’ll definitely be back.

A few quiet moments in the garden before a few hours on the train heading south. ☀️☕

Mug in hand, shoes off, soaking up a little sunshine and a spot of grounding before the travel begins.

This weekend I’m off to Barton-upon-Humber and Hull, so hopefully I’ll be bringing you plenty of new places, great independent finds and a few hidden gems along the way.

Even better, I have my school bestie Emma as my local guide while Ed is off training, so I’m expecting a few recommendations that only a local would know.

Come along for the journey! ✨

🍫 NEW IN AT FIG & FROMAGE DELI 🍫

Meet the newest member of the Tony’s Chocolonely family… Milk Pecan Crunch! 🌰✨

This one’s a little different. At 90g, it’s smaller than the classic Tony’s bars…

Not quite small enough to keep all to yourself…

…but if you do, we promise we won’t judge. 😉🍫

Creamy Fairtrade milk chocolate loaded with crunchy pecan pieces for that perfect sweet, nutty bite. It’s ideal as a little treat with your coffee, an afternoon pick-me-up, or a “just because I deserve it” moment.

Pop in and grab one before they’re gone!
