⭐️Introducing our new ‘Know Your Numbers’ corner⭐️

Next time you visit, why not take a few moments to check your height, weight and blood pressure. It’s a quick and easy way to help us keep your medical records up to date while helping you stay informed about your own health.

If your readings need follow-up, you can discuss them with the clinician you’re seeing, or our reception team will ensure the appropriate next steps are taken using our blood pressure protocol.

We encourage all patients to make use of this facility during their visit. If you need any assistance, please just ask a member of our reception team.

To help keep the area available for everyone, we kindly ask that it isn’t used as a waiting space and that children are not permitted to play in the corner or with the equipment.

💙We're incredibly proud to share our results from the 2026 National GP Patient Survey! 💙

Firstly, we'd like to say a huge thank you to every patient who took the time to share their feedback to the National GP Survey Team. Your views help us to recognise what we're doing well and where we can continue to improve. These results are something we're all incredibly proud of because they reflect the dedication, kindness and commitment of the whole St Andrew's House Medical Centre family.

From our receptionists, admin team and management, to our nurse, phlebotomist, pharmacist and of course our wonderful GPs and trainee doctors – every single person has an important role to play in the running of our practice. By working together as one dedicated team, we're able to provide a service that is safe, effective, caring and centred around our patients.

We know that GP healthcare isn't just about appointments – it's about listening, supporting, treating people with compassion and making every interaction count. We strive every day to ensure our patients feel heard, respected and cared for, and that they are able to contact our practice with ease and choice. We are delighted that this year's survey reflects that commitment.

We'd like to thank our amazing team for everything they do each and every day. Their professionalism, kindness and hard work never go unnoticed, and we're incredibly proud of what we've achieved together.

Finally, thank you to our patients for placing your trust in us. It is a privilege to care for our community, and we remain committed to continually improving and providing the very best care possible.

💙 From all of us at St Andrew's House Medical Centre – thank you.

We are hosting our next PPG (Patient Participation Group) meeting this Thursday, 30th July 2026 at 1pm.

If you are a registered patient aged 16 and over, and would like to volunteer a little bit of your time to join us for a discussion about what is going on in the practice and be part of new ideas and initiatives, then we always welcome feedback and support that our patients can offer.

No need to book on, you can just turn up... but if you are able to call us on 01613383181 or email us on [email protected] to confirm your attendance then we can get an idea of numbers, then that would be great.

Hopefully you can join us in person, but if you would like to join us virtually via a Microsoft Teams link then please just let us know and we can send you an invite!

Thank you to all of our patients for the continued support!

A huge thank you to one of our lovely patients for capturing and sharing this fantastic photograph! We think you'll agree – it's a stunning building and one we're incredibly proud to call home.

Many people will know that St Andrew's House Medical Centre moved into the building in April 2014, transforming this beautiful Edwardian building into a modern healthcare hub whilst preserving so much of its original character.

Originally built in 1909 as Waterloo Road Girls' Secondary School, the building has served the people of Stalybridge for well over a century. Over the years it has also been home to Tameside's Teachers' Centre, council offices and even part of the local police station before beginning its next chapter as a place dedicated to health and wellbeing.

We even have a special connection to its past – one of our own members of staff attended the school before it closed. It's lovely to think that the building continues to serve the community, just in a very different way.

We feel lucky to come to work each day in a building with so much history, character and architectural beauty. While the inside has been sympathetically modernised to meet today's healthcare needs, many original features remain, helping to preserve the story of this remarkable building.

Today, Stalybridge Resource Centre is much more than just a GP surgery. Alongside St Andrew's House Medical Centre, we're proud to share the building with Adams Pharmacy, and Stalybridge PCN Hub and most recently, following major renovations – including the restoration of the original flooring on the second floor – we were delighted to welcome Stalybridge Community Clinic to the building, who are now based on the top floor.

Together, we're able to provide a wide range of healthcare services under one roof, making it easier for our community to access the care and support they need, close to home.

One day, we'd love to see the building's magnificent original entrance brought back into use. It would be a wonderful project, although one that would need the time, care and restoration such a beautiful historic feature truly deserves.

Thank you once again to our patient for sharing this wonderful photograph and reminding us just how privileged we are to work in such an iconic part of Stalybridge's history. ❤️

💜 Help Us Improve Access to Cervical Screening 💜

We are hoping to increase the number of our eligible patients attending for their cervical screening (smear test).

We understand that the thought of having a smear test can feel worrying, especially if it's your first one or if you've had a difficult experience in the past. Please know that you're not alone, and we're here to support you.

Our nursing team can offer a range of adjustments and support to help make your appointment as comfortable and straightforward as possible. We will always work with you to understand your concerns and make the experience as positive as we can.

In the image below, we've addressed some of the common worries and anxieties that patients have shared with us over the years, along with some of the ways we can help.

We also offer evening and weekend appointments, making it easier for those with busy work, family or other commitments to attend.

Most importantly, we'd really like to hear from you.

Are there any other barriers that have stopped you from booking or attending your cervical screening appointment? Whether it's something practical, emotional or something we haven't thought of, your feedback could help us improve the service we provide for everyone.

If you have any suggestions or feedback, please email our Practice Nurse, Alanah, at [email protected].

By listening to our patients, we can continue to make cervical screening more accessible, supportive and comfortable for everyone who needs it. 💜

🏆 We are delighted to share that our team have been recognised through a nomination for a Student-Led Teaching Award from the MBChB Medical Student Programme.

These awards are especially meaningful because they are nominated and judged by medical students themselves, recognising healthcare professionals who have made a positive impact on their learning, development, and overall experience during their training.

The feedback received highlighted our team's commitment to providing excellent supervision, creating a supportive learning environment, and tailoring learning opportunities to meet the needs of individual students.

This nomination reflects the dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism of our staff, who work hard to support and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.

As a teaching practice, we are passionate about helping medical students gain valuable real-world experience, confidence, and skills during their placements with us. We believe that investing time in education today helps shape the compassionate, skilled doctors our communities will rely on tomorrow.

A huge thank you to the students who took the time to nominate us, and congratulations to all members of our team who contribute to making our practice a welcoming and supportive place to learn.
