🍷 A Wonderful Morning of Cheese & Wine Tasting 🍷🧀

Woodlands View Social Club, in collaboration with Blossoms Health Care, recently hosted a delightful Cheese and Wine Tasting morning for our residents.

Residents enjoyed sampling a selection of cheeses and wines while spending quality time together, sharing stories, laughter, and great conversation. Events like these are a wonderful way to encourage social interaction and create special memories.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning such a success. We look forward to many more enjoyable events together!

Today we welcomed some adorable 10-week-old baby goats from Performing Pets to Woodlands View 🐐💕

They brought so much joy to our residents, with one resident tearfully saying, “Are they just precious,” as she thanked us for bringing them in to see her. ❤️

A lovely afternoon filled with smiles, cuddles, and special memories.

🎤🇬🇧 We had a wonderful time at Woodlands View celebrating VE Day with some fantastic live singing and plenty of smiles all around! Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the music, singing along to some classic favourites and sharing special memories from years gone by. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special.

We would also like to give a very warm welcome back to Najma, returning to Woodlands View as Unit Manager. We are so pleased to have you back with us and look forward to all the great things ahead! 🌸

Today, residents of Woodlands View Care Home in Stevenage and River Court Care Home in Watford had the privilege of attending a wonderful zoo day trip to Oaklands College (St Albans Campus).

The residents travelled together by minibus and had great fun getting to know one another during the journey. It was truly heartwarming to see residents from two different homes chatting, sharing stories, and bonding over their experiences.

Upon arrival at Oaklands College, we were warmly welcomed by Megan and Sarah, who introduced us to a member of the zoo department team, along with two students who would be guiding us on our tour.

To ensure everyone could enjoy the experience comfortably, residents were divided into two groups—those who could walk unaided and those who use wheelchairs or walking aids. This allowed everyone to explore the grounds and interact with the animals at a pace that suited them.

We had a very special visitor at Woodland’s View recently… the Easter Bunny! 🐰💛

Hopping around the home, the Easter Bunny spent time visiting our residents, lending a helping hand with a few jobs, and most importantly spreading lots of Easter joy and smiles along the way.

It was wonderful to see so much laughter and excitement, with everyone enjoying the surprise visit. Thank you to our fluffy friend for making the day so memorable!

Woodlands View marks a memorable but emotional day.

Kim Williamson, our Senior Carer on Newton House, is retiring today after 23 years of dedicated service at Woodlands View.

Kim is one of the most caring, kind, considerate, and patient people you could ever meet. She will be truly missed by all the staff and residents alike.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you for your incredible 23 years of service and for the lasting, positive impact you have made on the lives of our residents.

We wish you all the very best in your retirement, Kim—you will be deeply missed.

👏 Sheila was unanimously nominated Employee of the Month — a true reflection of her dedication and positivity.

💙 Vicky received the Kindness in Care Award for consistently delivering compassionate, thoughtful care to our residents.

🤝 Team Astonbury were recognised with the Team Kindness in Care Award for their outstanding performance and incredible spirit of unity, empathy, and teamwork.

We’re proud to see our Wellbeing Coordinator bringing learning into meaningful action following their recent Music in Dementia Care course 🎶

This week, residents took part in a music session inspired by those new approaches — and the results were truly heartwarming. Everyone joined in with enthusiasm, making a real effort to synchronise rhythms and movements, and even coming together in song.

It was a wonderful moment of connection, joy, and shared experience. Seeing residents engage, support one another, and express themselves through music is a powerful reminder of how impactful thoughtful, person-centred care can be.

A big well done to our team for creating such a positive and uplifting environment 💙
