There are a number of ways you can help your body recover after breast surgery and treatment.
Manual lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling, Deep oscillation to reduce adhesions, pain and swelling, scar therapy, personalised self lymphatic drainage techniques to do at home, plus compression garments on prescription are all extremely beneficial.

One such compression garment, which recently became available on prescription last year, is the Haddenham Comfiwave breast band.
This garment is excellent for addressing swelling around the breast, under arms and back regions.
You can also wear this garment as you sleep.

Self care and taking time out for yourself is so important, as I’ve just realised.
It’s been a number of years since I’ve taken an extended holiday to fully allow my mind and body to relax, whilst spending time with the family.
I’ve also realised I need to do this more often, I even managed to read a book!
Why do we do this to ourselves? especially for those who work self-employed!
Back in the clinic today and glad to see the sun is shining☺️ ☀️ I wasn’t impressed landing in Glasgow to 16 degrees and drizzle😂
Feeling refreshed and looking forward to seeing all my clients today.
Wishing I could take a boat to work, being on the sea is my happy place ☺️

Compression for Lipoedema can be so beneficial relieving heaviness, swelling, sensitivity and pain.
There are two different types of compression.

CIRCULAR KNIT - seamless and highly elastic, making it better suited for earlier stages of Lipoedema.
FLAT KNIT- knitted flat on a machine then stitched together resulting in a visible seam. Usually custom-made (made to measure) to accommodate irregular shapes of the limb, where skin folds are present. Best for moderate to advanced Lipoedema.
To be measured find your local lymphoedema therapist via MLD U.K. or compression specialist via NHS.

The approach to the diagnosis, referral and treatment of Lipoedema on the NHS needs to improve.

We ask the Government review the NHS approach to diagnosis, referral and treatment of lipoedema. This should include GP training, access to conservative treatments, and clear pathways to specialist care.
