🩷🎀 THE WHARF WORE IT PINK! 🎀🩷

Yesterday, The Wharf turned PINK as our residents, relatives and team came together for a fabulous Wear It Pink Afternoon Tea in support of breast cancer awareness and fundraising. 💕

There was plenty of pink, lots of laughter, delicious treats and, most importantly, a wonderful sense of everyone coming together to support such an important cause. 🧁☕🩷

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed getting involved in the afternoon, and it was fantastic to see colleagues embracing the theme and proudly wearing their pink too! 🦩🎀

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us, donated and helped make the afternoon such a success. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps to make a difference. 💗

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our Wharf community — our residents, families, friends and colleagues really do know how to make an event special.

🌟 July Round-Up at The Wharf Care Centre 🌟

As we come to the end of another fantastic month, we'd like to look back on some of the wonderful memories we've made together during July. 💜

It's been a month full of smiles, laughter and meaningful moments. Our residents have enjoyed a fantastic variety of activities including creative crafts, games, reminiscence sessions, beach day celebrations, delicious fish and chips, Punch & Judy, Animal Magic, social clubs and plenty of opportunities to spend quality time together.

⚽ One of the highlights of the month was our "Football Brings Us Together" video, which celebrated the excitement of the game and showed how sport connects generations, creates conversations and brings everyone together. We were incredibly proud of the finished video and the enthusiasm shown by our residents and team.

🎾 We also embraced the excitement of the tennis season, enjoying Wimbledon-themed activities, friendly competitions and reminiscing about some of the greatest moments in tennis history. It was wonderful to see so many residents getting involved and sharing their favourite sporting memories.

As we say goodbye to July, we're ending the month on a high with a fantastic live performance from Darren, bringing music, singing and plenty of entertainment to round off the month in style. 🎤🎶

A huge thank you to our amazing residents, relatives, volunteers and dedicated team for making every day so special. We can't wait to see what August has in store, with even more activities, creativity and meaningful moments ahead.

⚽🏴 World Cup fever at The Wharf! 🏴⚽

We had such a brilliant time creating our special England video ahead of the big match!
Our residents and staff got fully involved, enjoying football games, singing familiar songs, sharing plenty of laughs and proudly showing their support for the Three Lions. There were soft footballs flying in every direction, lots of cheering and even a rather dramatic ending for our Lifestyle Coordinator! 😂

The video was great fun to make, but more importantly, it brought everyone together and created some wonderful memories along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make it so special.

💙🦸 Heroes Among Us Week at The Wharf 🦸💙

What an incredible week it has been! 💙

Over the past few days we've been celebrating the amazing people who make The Wharf such a special place. From residents and relatives to our dedicated team members, we've been recognising the everyday heroes whose kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness make a real difference.

Our Heroes Among Us display board has been filling up with wonderful nominations, heartfelt messages and smiling faces. Reading the lovely comments and seeing so many people recognised has been truly heartwarming. 🥹💙

The Greatest heroes are often the quietest ones - those who offer a smile, lend a hand, listen with patience and kindness. Thank you for making The Wharf a place where compassion shines every single day

💜 Community Connections 💜

Today we were delighted to welcome members of our local W.I. to The Wharf Care Centre.
They kindly presented our manager with a wonderful collection of toiletries and gift bags for our residents, a thoughtful gesture that was greatly appreciated by all.

Building strong links within our community is so important, and we hope this is the beginning of a lasting relationship between The Wharf and our local W.I. Group.

A huge thank you for your generosity, kindness and support. Together we can make a real difference to the lives of those we care for. 💜

🌟 Hero of the Month 🌟

This month we would like to give a huge thank you to our very own Gary for all of his hard work, kindness and support around the home.

Whether he’s helping residents, supporting staff, fixing problems before most of us have even noticed them, or simply making people smile throughout the day, Gary is always willing to lend a hand. His calm nature, team spirit and dedication never go unnoticed and he truly plays a big part in keeping The Wharf running smoothly.

Gary is also always willing to go the extra mile for our residents. Whether it’s taking the time to sit and have a chat, sharing a laugh, or accompanying residents out into the garden for a gentle walk and some fresh air, his kindness and patience shine through in everything he does. These small moments make such a big difference and never go unnoticed by residents, families or staff.

Thank you Gary for everything you do — your hard work and positivity are appreciated more than you know. We are very lucky to have you as part of the team! 👏

At The Wharf Care Centre we recently came together to celebrate Vesak, embracing its values of kindness, compassion, and generosity.

The day began with mindful activities and reflection, creating a calm atmosphere that soon lifted into joyful singing and dancing. Residents also enjoyed creative activities like building a Buddha altar and decorating stones, as well as relaxing during a soothing sound bath.

Food played a key role, with coconut rice pudding, chickpea dhal, and fresh fruit shared among all, including adapted options so everyone could join in.

Overall, the celebration brought the community together, highlighting the importance of kindness, connection, and shared moments.

Next week at The Wharf we are proud to be supporting Dementia Action Week with a range of meaningful activities, awareness events and opportunities to bring people together 💙

Today we officially launched and held our very first Forget Me Not Café - a warm and welcoming space for residents, relatives, friends and members of the local community affected by dementia. Seeing people chatting, laughing, sharing memories and supporting one another made us incredibly proud 🫶

Throughout the week we will also be hosting:
🎶 Music & reminiscence sessions
🧠 Dementia awareness activities
🪴 Social groups & themed afternoons
💃 More Movement sessions
🚴 A 26-mile static bike ride fundraising challenge to raise money and awareness for Dementia Action Week

At The Wharf we believe dementia care is about far more than support - it’s about connection, dignity, inclusion and creating meaningful moments every single day 💙
