A big congratulations to Martine, our Solihull Caregiver of the Month! 👏

Martine’s colleagues had such lovely things to say about her, describing her as an amazing Caregiver whose kindness and laughter brighten their days.

Whether she’s supporting her clients or helping a colleague, Martine is always willing to go out of her way for others.

A very well-deserved recognition. Congratulations, Martine! 🧡

Got questions about care but not ready to make any decisions? 💬

Maybe you’re wondering whether it’s time for some support, what care at home actually looks like, how much it costs, what help is available locally, or what happens if needs change.

On Thursday 10th September, two of our Registered Managers will be at our Kenilworth office to answer those sorts of questions. Y

ou can talk through your situation, understand the different options and be signposted to other local support where helpful.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re asking for yourself or someone close to you, and there’s no expectation to arrange care with us.

Autumn is here 🍂

As the evenings begin to draw in and the weather starts to change, there are a few simple things worth checking around the home, especially if you’re supporting an older relative.

From checking everyday footwear to testing the heating before it’s really needed, a little preparation now can make the change of season that bit easier.

Here are six things you might not have thought about 👇

Worried a live-in Caregiver will become your “shadow”?

It’s a common concern, but live-in care shouldn’t mean having someone beside you every moment of the day. Privacy, quiet time and independence are still really important.

🎙️ In this clip from The Care Podcast, Jo and Sophie talk about what having a live-in Caregiver is really like and why good care should fit around the way you want to live.

There’s often a bit of music at our Memory Cafés! 🎶

Here’s a little snapshot from our Leamington Spa Memory Café earlier this month, where Frank and Alan joined us to play some much-loved old-time favourites.

It didn’t take long to get everyone singing along, and one of our regular attendees even joined them on the drums! 🥁

Musical visitors are just one of the many things we have going on across our Memory Cafés, alongside activities, guest speakers, crafts and plenty of time for a cuppa and a chat.

Our cafés are open to anyone living with memory loss or dementia, as well as their family, friends and carers. There’s no need to book, just come along.

What better way to spend a sunny afternoon? 🍦

Carer Keira and her client headed out for a spot of shopping at M&S, followed by a trip to the park and a very well-deserved ice cream.

And judging by the amount of sprinkles, they definitely chose well! ☀️💕

Think you need care experience to become a Caregiver? You might be surprised.

Some of the things that can put people off applying are often the things that matter least.

❌ No care experience? That’s okay. You’ll receive training to help you feel confident before you start.

❌ Your CV isn’t perfect? We’re much more interested in the person behind it. Being kind, reliable and genuinely wanting to help people matters.

❌ Don’t know everything about care? Nobody starts knowing everything. You’ll learn, develop your skills and have a team around you to turn to when you need them.

Being a Caregiver is about helping someone continue living life at home, from providing practical support to sharing a conversation over a cup of tea. No two days or clients are quite the same.

If you’re patient, dependable and enjoy spending time with people, you could already have some of the most important qualities we’re looking for.

A big well done to our Caregiver, Mele.

When one of her clients began choking during a meal, Mele knew exactly what to do.

She told us afterwards that she did exactly what she'd been taught, giving back blows until the obstruction was cleared. Thankfully, the client was checked over and was absolutely fine.

It's one of those moments that shows exactly why Caregiver training, and keeping that training refreshed, is so important.

Well done, Mele. You handled a frightening situation brilliantly ⭐
