A little kindness goes a long way!
Halloween should be fun for everyone. Please remind children to stay safe, respect other people's homes and remember that not everyone wants to take part in Halloween.

Let's make it a happy, safe and considerate Halloween for our whole community.

World Stroke Day -
With 1 in 4 of us at risk of stroke in our lifetime, it's in everyone's interest to know the signs of stroke. Time lost is brain lost and seeking emergency care as soon as symptoms are spotted saves lives and can enable treatments that improve our chances of a full recovery.
Even if it doesn’t seem like much, at the first sign of a stroke, call 999.
A stroke strikes every five minutes. Every year in the UK, there are around 100,000 strokes, causing 38,000 stroke-related deaths, and it is a leading cause of disability.1
Stroke symptoms might be less dramatic, painful or obvious than you might expect. Like not being able to raise your arm, struggling to smile, or slurred speech.
Whether it is a friend, loved one or even a passer-by, any sign of a stroke is always an emergency, so call 999 immediately if you or someone else experiences a single symptom.
Acting FAST on any sign of a stroke gives patients faster access to specialist treatment that could save their life.
Face or Arm or Speech, at the first sign, it’s Time to call 999.

Making the most of winter sunshine for health and wellbeing.
The forecast is showing a week of winter sunshine as we welcome November.
Some winter sunshine, gentle movement, good food and enough rest can help us feel better.
Even a short walk in the fresh air can help you feel more energetic and reduce stress.

What can help if you have a cold or flu?
A cold usually develops gradually and mainly affects the nose and throat. Flu often starts suddenly and can cause fever, body aches, headaches and marked tiredness.

Sore throat of cough - Warm drinks, honey for adults and children over 1 year, and rest.
Blocked nose - Saline nasal spray or drops
Fever, aches or headache - Rest, fluids and paracetamol if suitable for you
Feeling weak or exhausted - Sleep, regular sips of fluids and light meals
Chills or feeling cold - Comfortable clothing, a warm room and rest

Looking after your emotional wellbeing

Winter wellbeing is about more than avoiding illness. Small, manageable habits can make a real difference:
Open your curtains in the morning and spend time in natural daylight.
Keep in touch with friends and family, even if it is only a phone call.
Enjoy comforting activities such as reading, listening to music or cooking.
Give yourself permission to slow down when you need to.
If low mood persists, affects everyday life or becomes difficult to manage, speak to your GP.

Early warning signs of a heart attack often include chest discomfort that comes and goes, unusual fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, and a general sense of not feeling right, sometimes appearing hours, days, or even weeks before the event.
These signs may be subtle and vary between individuals, especially women and older adults.

This week is International Brain Tumour Awareness Week 2026.
Early recognition of symptoms such as persistent headaches, vison changes, seizures, or memory problems is vital. The earlier a cancer is picked up, the easier it is to treat it and the more likely the treatment is to be successful.
If something doesn’t feel right speak to your GP immediately. ⬇️

Although the RSV injection can be given anytime of the year, Autumn/Winter is a good time to check whether you are eligible.
The RSV vaccine is given as an injection. Older adults generally need just one dose, which is expected to provide protection for several years.
