Karen Sharrocks. Independent Celebrant.

Karen Sharrocks. Independent Celebrant. To give you a little background: I was born in Bolton and currently reside in Horwich. I am also a qualified mediator.

I bring nearly 30 years of senior management experience within the NHS, primarily in Human Resources. As a celebrant my ethos is rooted in providing the highest standard of service to every client. Having recently experienced personal loss, I understand how important it is to work with the right celebrant—someone who can honour a life with compassion, dignity, and authenticity. I take great pride

in crafting meaningful eulogies that truly reflect the life and legacy of the person being celebrated. My professional background includes extensive public speaking, training design and delivery, and trainer development. I am respectful of all beliefs and none; therefore, happy to conduct both religious and non-religious ceremonies. I was raised and educated in the Roman Catholic church so have a good understanding of the Roman Catholic faith. I will craft a unique and personal ceremony that reflects the life of the person who has died and I and will tailor the service to honour their story and values.

These iconic lines are from a poem by Emily Dickinson, one of the most celebrated figures. Her work is renowned for its brevity, depth, and profound ability to capture the essence of human emotion through simple, crystalline imagery. This particular poem serves as a touching reminder of the power of empathy and the quiet, significant impact we can have on the lives of others.

Just close your eyes and think, give an in-depth look at everything in the universe. You observe that almost everything follows the Principle of Change, and it passes through series and cycles. The earth revolves around the sun, the moon around the planet. The day ends at night, and the night ends with another day. Likewise, the four seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, when affixed to our lives, have their own rhythms and unfold so much truth.

Our lives also have seasons and cycles, some are expansive, and some are contracted. Some celebrate the bloom, and some call for hibernation. All the seasons add assorted color to life. Every season has a particular time duration, and after that, a new season arises.

I had the honour and priviledge to officiate today at the service for Renee Francis Nurtney.
The lovely Renee was the mum of one of my bestest friends......it was equally sad and uplifting!
A joyous day with a beautiful family and lovely friends. Thank you. Good night god bless Renee ###

No one is measuring your ‘festive’.
It is not a badge of honour.
And none of the ‘stuff’ matters, truly.
But what does matter is you.

You deserve to feel as much of the good things as you’ve shouldered the bad.

And I know it seems impossible to imagine sometimes but joy is waiting to sneak in for you. In the simple moments of ‘nothingness’. You just have to let her.

She doesn’t need you to usher out grief or sadness, she simply needs you to let her join the party.

Without her, life is just too hard. Let her in. Let it all in.
