With kind permission from the family, we’re proud to share this very personal farewell arranged by our Gordon Barber Funeral Directors team in Lowestoft.

When the family asked if we could organise a final journey on a First Eastern Counties bus, it really mattered to us to make it happen. It was a fitting tribute to Michael’s life and the years he spent behind the wheel.
Seeing colleagues gather at the bus station to pay their respects, and being able to bring everyone together in such a meaningful way, made this a truly special send-off.

At Dignity, we’re always here to listen and do everything we can to help families create a service that feels right for them – no matter how unique the request.

We’re incredibly proud of our teams for going above and beyond to support families and create services that truly reflect the lives of those being remembered.

We’re honoured to share this meaningful initiative from our colleagues at Sankey & Monks Funeral Directors , who carefully arranged the memorial in Pennington Park in remembrance of those who so tragically lost their lives.

The Manchester Arena tragedy was felt across the UK and around the world, and as we approach the 9th anniversary, this special place stands as a powerful symbol of collective remembrance - offering a peaceful space for reflection, support, and unity 🐝

For those local to the area, we warmly invite you to join the service on 22nd May at 12pm - a moment to come together, reflect, and honour the young lives lost.

Across our network, our teams are deeply rooted in their communities, carrying out meaningful acts of care, remembrance, and support every day. This is just one example of how Dignity colleagues nationwide continue to make a difference where it matters most 💛

This week has been about something simple, but profound: making space to talk.

These conversations don’t have to be finished, perfect, or even fully formed. What matters is beginning - creating a safe, gentle space where your loved one feels heard, respected, and valued.

Every small moment of openness is a step toward understanding, dignity, and shared peace of mind.

This Dying Matters Week, Dignity has stood alongside Hospice UK, supporting families to approach these conversations with care, compassion, and confidence - now and in the days ahead.

As the week comes to a close, what’s one small thing you’re taking away - a thought, a phrase, or a moment that stayed with you? Share in the comments and help keep the conversation going. 💙

If emotions rise, pausing is not a failure - it’s an act of care.

Silence, gentle reassurance, and kindness often speak louder than the right words ever could. Sometimes the most supportive thing you can say is simply:
“We don’t have to talk about this right now.”
“We can come back to it when you’re ready.”

These moments of patience help people feel safe, respected, and in control - even when the conversation feels heavy.

This Dying Matters Week, Dignity stands alongside Hospice UK, supporting families to move at the pace that feels right, with compassion and understanding at the centre.

Have you ever found a phrase or moment that helped when emotions were high - or one you wish you’d had? Share in the comments to help others feel less alone. 💙

End of life wishes aren’t just about medical decisions - they’re about the whole person.

They can include where someone feels most comfortable, who they would want by their side, and what helps them feel respected, reassured, and treated with dignity.

These conversations are about listening carefully and honouring their voice - not making assumptions or rushing decisions.

This Dying Matters Week, Dignity stands alongside Hospice UK, supporting families to explore these wishes with compassion, sensitivity, and respect.

What do you think helps someone feel most comfortable or cared for at the end of life? Share your thoughts in the comments - your words may help others start an important conversation. 💙
