'You never know if you never try.'

Forever I've been planning in my head, jotting ideas on paper & then talking myself out of whatever it is I've created.

Not this time. Inspiration hit massively over the weekend, the idea may be wild but so am I (or I was, sadly I lost that somewhere along the way).

Now all I need to do is lift it from the paper & make it a reality. That's my next move, small steps before I finally take the leap. Time to step out of my comfort zone!

I have two mantras keeping me moving forward;

* if you build it they will come
* it takes a village

Another group for the men in your life πŸ‘πŸ½

Are you struggling with something in your life? A difficult divorce maybe, work related problems, mental health struggles, a bereavement, depression, addiction, loneliness, family, stress, or money worries? Whatever your situation, whatever the cause, if you need a safe space to talk, we're here for you.

As men, sometimes we're not great at talking about how we feel, and that can get bottled up and make matters worse. If you can't talk to your wife or partner, or your family or friends, think about coming and talking to some other men who are going through similar tough times and know how you feel. We won't judge you or chuck well-intentioned advice at you - we'll just listen. We'll give you the time to talk and get it off your chest.

And if you don’t feel you are able to talk, that’s fine, sometimes just sitting and listening and knowing that you’re not the only one struggling is enough to help.

We meet every Monday (except bank holidays). Our doors open at 6.30pm so there’s enough time to park up and grab a brew and a biscuit before we start at 7pm sharp. We finish at 9pm and it’s all free.

We look forward to welcoming you.

We seem to have started something. The chess board came out & now we're having a game or two at some point each day.

Today was a 'winner stays on' challenge, the adults lost miserably, eldest grandson wiped the board with us!

It doesn't seem that long ago we were teaching him which piece moved where. Now he's trying to show his younger brother how to play.

As well as having fun, there are benefits to playing chess.

β™ŸοΈ it builds critical thinking

β™ŸοΈ improves concentration & focus

β™ŸοΈ teaches patience

β™ŸοΈ enhanced memory

β™ŸοΈ stronger executive functioning

β™ŸοΈ engages left & right hemispheres of the brain

We were so lucky to have had this stunning visitor this afternoon ✨️

He (?) got in the conservatory & couldn't find the way back out.

Eventually took hold of the end of the ice hockey stick & sat for a minute to catch its breath, before taking off for freedom once more.

Colours were amazing! πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’›

Singing & nursery rhymes in the early years play a big part in speech & reading later on. So does narrating your day, what you're doing, seeing, hearing, smelling, the feel of things.

When you go on a walk point out flowers, bugs, bird sounds, the rustle of trees & the feel of rain. Allow your child to feel 'being in the moment,' ask questions, be curious, open up their world of wonder & awe. It all contributes to building their vocabulary.
