One of the biggest concerns I have in aesthetics...
..is the amount of misinformation patients have been given.
A huge part of my consultations is spent educating patients and explaining the why behind my recommendations.
Yes, there are different techniques and approaches to treatments. But when it comes to anatomy, recognising complications, and patient safety, I believe we should all be striving for the highest standard of knowledge.
Personally, I don’t believe a 2–4 day course alone is enough to develop the depth of understanding needed to safely treat patients. A certificate is the beginning—not the end—of your education.
As a registered nurse, I’m professionally accountable for my practice. The NMC requires us to recognise the limits of our competence, only carry out treatments we are appropriately trained and competent to perform, and continually develop our knowledge and skills. That’s a responsibility I take seriously every single day.
Because at the end of the day, patient safety will always come before trends, and education will always come before treatment. 🤍
