Its only in the last few years, I hace realised the complexity of my body. I have multiple chronic illnesses, I am autistic and adhd (commonly known as AuDhd), i hav trauma, anxiety, depression, panic attacks. Ahd they all play a part in how my body functions.

Understanding this through research and therapy has been a integral part of finding a positive balanced life that leaves me with happiness and joy.

Art and craft, community and friendship plays a huge part in that. Being able to rest when I need too without the guilt and self loathing is integral. Finding joy and self esteem are all massive.

My life is complex, its always gonna be complex and thats ok. My journey is my journey and my life is and will be meaningful.

💜 FIBRO & ME 💜

🌻 10 TIPS FOR EXPLAINING THAT FIBROMYALGIA IS MORE THAN PAIN 🌻

If you’ve ever tried to explain fibromyalgia to someone who thinks it’s simply “aches and pains”, you’ll know how frustrating it can be.

Because yes…

PAIN IS PART OF IT.

But fibromyalgia can affect so much more than how much your body hurts.

There’s the exhaustion that sleep doesn’t always fix.

The brain fog that makes simple thoughts disappear.

The stiffness.

The poor sleep.

The sensory overload.

The headaches.

The overwhelming feeling that your body has suddenly decided that ordinary things are bloody hard work.

And perhaps one of the hardest parts?

Trying to explain all of that to someone who can’t see it.

💗 💛 💚 💙 💜

🌻 IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT BEING IN PAIN 🌻

When someone asks:

“But what actually hurts?”

sometimes you don’t know where to start.

Because the answer can be:

“Pretty much everything… and that’s not even the whole story.”

Fibromyalgia can affect people differently, and symptoms can vary from day to day.

So instead of trying to explain every single symptom at once, here are 10 ways to help someone understand what living with fibro can actually be like.

💜 💙 💚 💛 💗

🌸 1. EXPLAIN THAT PAIN IS ONLY ONE PART OF IT

Fibromyalgia isn’t simply about having sore muscles.

For many people, it involves a whole collection of symptoms that can affect everyday life.

💗 💛 💚 💙 💜

🌸 2. TALK ABOUT THE FATIGUE

There is a massive difference between being tired and feeling like your entire body has run out of energy.

You can want to do something desperately and still not have the physical energy to do it.

💙 💚 💛 💗 💜

🌸 3. EXPLAIN THE FIBRO FOG

Sometimes you know exactly what you want to say…

And then your brain simply refuses to find the words.

You can forget names, lose your train of thought, struggle to concentrate or walk into a room and completely forget why you’re there.

💚 💛 💗 💜 💙

🌸 4. EXPLAIN THAT SLEEP DOESN’T ALWAYS FIX THE EXHAUSTION

Someone might say:

“You just need a good night’s sleep.”

If only it were that bloody simple.

You can sleep and still wake up feeling completely exhausted.

💛 💗 💜 💙 💚

🌸 5. TALK ABOUT HOW UNPREDICTABLE IT CAN BE

One day you might manage something.

Another day, the same thing might be completely beyond you.

That’s not necessarily because you’re being inconsistent.

YOUR BODY CAN BE UNPREDICTABLE.

💗 💜 💙 💚 💛

🌸 6. EXPLAIN THAT “CAN” DOESN’T MEAN “ALWAYS CAN”

This is a big one.

If you managed to go shopping last week, it doesn’t mean you’ll automatically manage it today.

If you went out yesterday, it doesn’t mean you’re able to go out again today.

ABILITY CAN CHANGE FROM DAY TO DAY.

💜 💚 💛 💙 💗

🌸 7. TALK ABOUT THE SENSORY SIDE

Noise.

Bright lights.

Crowds.

Too much conversation.

Too much stimulation.

Sometimes things other people barely notice can become completely overwhelming when you’re already exhausted and struggling.

💙 💛 💗 💚 💜

🌸 8. EXPLAIN THE AFTER-EFFECT

One of the hardest things for people to understand is that doing something doesn’t always end when the activity ends.

You might manage the outing…

Then pay for it afterwards with increased pain, exhaustion or a flare.

💚 💗 💜 💛 💙

🌸 9. EXPLAIN THAT IT AFFECTS YOUR WHOLE LIFE

Fibromyalgia isn’t just something that happens when you’re sitting still.

It can affect:

WORK.

RELATIONSHIPS.

SOCIAL LIFE.

SLEEP.

HOBBIES.

HOUSEWORK.

PLANS.

CONFIDENCE.

It’s the knock-on effect that people don’t always see.

💛 💙 💚 💜 💗

🌸 10. REMIND THEM THAT LOOKING OKAY DOESN’T MEAN FEELING OKAY

This might be the most important one.

You can smile.

You can laugh.

You can get dressed.

You can go out.

You can have a conversation.

And still be struggling enormously underneath it all.

YOU CAN LOOK FINE AND FEEL ABSOLUTELY BLOODY AWFUL.

💗 💛 💚 💙 💜

🌻 FIBRO IS MORE THAN THE PAIN YOU CAN SEE 🌻

Sometimes people only see the moments when you manage something.

They don’t see the rest.

They don’t see you lying down afterwards.

They don’t see the exhaustion.

They don’t see the brain fog.

They don’t see how much planning went into something that looked completely ordinary.

They don’t see the things you didn’t do because you had to save your energy for something else.

💜 💙 💚 💛 💗

🌻 IT’S NOT LAZINESS. IT’S NOT “JUST TIRED.” 🌻

When fibromyalgia limits what you can do, it can be incredibly frustrating.

Especially when you remember how much you used to manage without thinking twice.

But needing to rest doesn’t mean you’re lazy.

Cancelling plans doesn’t mean you don’t care.

Needing help doesn’t mean you’re incapable.

And having a better day doesn’t mean the illness has disappeared.

YOUR BODY DOESN’T HAVE TO LOOK ILL FOR YOUR ILLNESS TO BE REAL.

💗 💛 💚 💙 💜

🌻 SOMETIMES “I CAN’T” NEEDS NO FURTHER EXPLANATION 🌻

You shouldn’t have to provide a full medical presentation every time you say:

“I can’t do that today.”

You shouldn’t have to prove you’re hurting.

You shouldn’t have to make yourself worse just so someone believes you were struggling in the first place.

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the most honest:

“MY BODY ISN’T COOPERATING TODAY.”

And that’s enough.

💜 💛 💙 💚 💗

🌻 LET’S TALK, FIBRO 🌻

What’s the one thing you wish people understood about fibromyalgia?

The fatigue?

The brain fog?

The unpredictability?

The sensory overload?

The recovery afterwards?

Or the fact that FIBRO IS SO MUCH MORE THAN PAIN?

Tell us the thing you are most tired of having to explain.

Let’s help each other put the invisible into words.

❤️💛💚🩵💜🩷💙

We had our first paid for sessions yesterday. It was a lovely session with 9 people attending. These sessions are currently only £5 per session (4 hours) in our trial period.

We had a variety of activities going on. Sewing including badges and hems on items, cross stitch, journaling, quilting and patchwork, making lavender bags, crochet, model building.

These sessions are designed to be a fun, relaxed sessions you can attend alone or with friends. Feedback from attendees was great with some suggestions of lego building, decopage and other stuff for the future. Also including an option where if you can/wanted too paying £10 and paying for a space for someone who cant afford it.

EVERYONE regardless of circumstances deserves to invest in their wellbeing and have some time to focus on their wellbeing and I am passionate about that being at a low cost and money not being a barrier.

Our next session at BACH is Wednesday 26th August from 7pm - 10pm and is just £3.

I will put the link in comments to book or drop me a message.

Huge thanks to those who attended to support me, I really appreciate it and it shows it is wanted and needed. 😘

We have approx 5 spaces left (of 16) for this tomorrow at 11am,

Find your slice of the messy table. This isn’t one of those rigid, follow-the-rules workshops that make you feel like you’re back in school. Instead, we’ve built a cozy, low-pressure sanctuary packed with supplies and zero judgments. There is no formal 'teaching' here—just a shared space where your brain can breathe.

Bring that project you started six months ago, or come with absolutely zero ideas and just rummage through our stash. We keep four different activities ready for when the paralysis kicks in, but if you want to go rogue, we totally support that journey.

Book sessions with friends and enjoy a catch up while looking after your mental wellbeing and create side by side, or come alone and either join in with the community or bring your headphones and enjoy some alone time. The choice is yours 😍
