A big thank you to the team from Morro Partnerships, who spent their staff volunteering day at The Coppice this week ☀️💚

Abdul, Natalie, Louise and Noel worked hard sanding and re-staining the outdoor benches, helping to make the space even more welcoming for our residents.

Richard Unwin, Housing and Care Manager, said:
“Thank you very much to the volunteers from Morro today. They did a great job and it will be much appreciated by the tenants.”

Sam Hine, Social Value & Inclusion Manager, added:
“We are really grateful to the team from Morro, our developer partners, who did an amazing job. The staff at The Coppice kept the volunteers well hydrated and we are very grateful for the work they have done for the benefit of our residents.”

Natalie Kyte from Morro said:
“It was lovely to meet Housing Plus Group staff and residents. We really enjoyed our day and despite the heat it was a very satisfying day.”

🩺 Life-Saving Bleed Kit Installed at Maywood, Wombourne 🩺

Residents and the wider Wombourne community now have access to a potentially life-saving bleed control kit at Maywood ShireLiving.

Donated by Councillor Martin Perry, the kit is part of an initiative to improve access to emergency equipment in local communities. It includes specialist items such as trauma dressings and tourniquets to help in the crucial moments before emergency services arrive, and will be registered so it can be easily located in an emergency.

Steph Warner, Scheme Manager, said:

“Having this kit on site gives both residents and the wider community added reassurance that help is close at hand in an emergency.”

A big thank you to Councillor Perry for supporting this important community initiative.

🧸 Meet the residents knitting for the emergency services 🧸

A weekly Knit and Natter group at The Coppice ShireLiving in Shrewsbury has created 60 comfort bears for local firefighters, to support children and vulnerable adults at distressing incidents.

The group recently visited Shrewsbury Fire Station to hand them over and see how they’ll be used 🚒

Watch Manager Jez Stephenson said:

"Trauma teddy bears offer comfort when it’s needed most. Given out by fire crews at distressing incidents, they help calm children and vulnerable people, providing reassurance and something familiar to hold onto during a frightening time. It’s a small act of kindness that can make a big difference at the scene."

Ashwood residents have enjoyed a jam-packed social calendar over the past few weeks – and here are just some of the highlights. 🤩

From Easter celebrations and Red Nose Day fun to belting out some classics at karaoke night, as well as marking St Patrick’s Day in style, and even taking a nostalgic trip back to school!

There’s been lots of fun had by all in Oswestry!

Now looking ahead to a busy spring/summer programme of activities, featuring an afternoon tea for St George's Day next week, Animal Encounters visiting and a trip to Trentham Gardens planned in May, as well as their Summer Fete on 15 August. ☀🌼

🧸Stitching for a good cause 🧸

Residents at one of our ShireLiving independent living schemes in Shrewsbury have been busy stitching for our local heroes. Our wonderful Knit and Natter group has been knitting teddy bears for the emergency services - all fuelled by plenty of tea and cake.

Over 40 handmade bears are ready to be delivered to the ambulance service, and are sure to bring comfort when it’s needed most.

And they’re not stopping there… next on the needles? Teapot cosies! 🫖🧶

🎉 Happy Birthday Hazelwood! 🎉

The ShireLiving independent living scheme in Whitchurch, has just celebrated its first birthday. Staff and residents came together to mark the occasion, enjoying a buffet prepared by our wonderful catering team.

It was great to see such a strong turnout and to take a moment to celebrate Hazelwood’s first year as a welcoming and inclusive community.

Spring has officially sprung – and that means grass cutting season is back. ☀️🌱🌷

Our teams are now out and about at our extra care and retirement living schemes, helping to keep outdoor spaces neat, tidy and ready to enjoy – whether that’s a stroll in the sunshine or spending time with neighbours, we know how important these green spaces are.

Here’s a glimpse of a morning in the life of our grounds maintenance team in action.
