Join us for the Purple Angel Dementia Walk and help us raise awareness and funds for dementia support in our community. 💜

Bliss Care will be taking part in this 3-mile charity walk on Sunday, 6th September 2026, starting at 12:30 PM from All Saints Church, Cary Avenue. The route will take us around St Marychurch and Babbacombe, finishing at Lorna House.

Everyone is welcome to join us - residents, families, friends, staff and members of the local community. Every step helps us raise awareness, show support and make a difference for people living with dementia and those who care for them.

🌼 Celebrating Onam at Aveland Court Care Home Torquay 🌼

We had a wonderful time at Aveland Court celebrating Onam, a traditional festival from the beautiful state of Kerala in South India.

Onam is a non-religious celebration of togetherness, gratitude, happiness and abundance. According to tradition, it marks the annual return of the much-loved King Mahabali, whose reign is remembered as a time when people lived with equality, prosperity and harmony.

The festival is celebrated by families and communities coming together, wearing traditional clothes, creating beautiful flower decorations called Pookalam, enjoying music and dancing, and sharing the famous Onam Sadya – a traditional feast with a wonderful variety of dishes. 🌸🥥🍛

At Aveland Court, celebrations like this are about more than marking a festival. They give us an opportunity to share cultures, learn from one another and create joyful memories together. Our residents and team had a lovely time experiencing a little taste of Kerala and the spirit of Onam.

🌿 A Wonderful Couple of Weeks Full of Smiles & Special Moments 🌿

The past couple of weeks have been filled with laughter, friendship and lots of fun!

✨ We enjoyed a fantastic Animal Activity Visit, where everyone had the chance to meet and interact with a variety of furry animals and fascinating reptiles.

🎤 Our Sing-along Karaoke sessions had everyone singing their favourite tunes, while our wonderful live entertainers kept spirits high. A huge thank you to Bing, our talented accordionist, and the lovely duo Ben & Isabelle for their fantastic performances.

🧠 Residents put their knowledge to the test with our Guess Who? and World Wonders quizzes, enjoyed a lively game of Bingo in the Garden, and had great fun taking part in lawn games in the sunshine.

💪 We also kept active with our regular chair exercise sessions, helping everyone stay moving while having fun together.

💅 Every Wednesday is Ladies’ Day, where residents can relax and enjoy a little pampering with hair styling, nail care and soothing hand massages.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make these moments so memorable. We can’t wait to see what the next few weeks bring! 💚

Another Wonderful Week Full of Smiles! 🌞💚

Last week was filled with laughter, friendship, and making the most of the beautiful summer weather.

🌿 Monday saw us getting moving with our chair exercise session before settling down in the afternoon to enjoy watching the bowls tournament together.

⛪ Tuesday began with our morning one-to-one visits, followed by a lovely church service led by the wonderful Rose from Barton Baptist Church. In the afternoon, we spent time in the garden sharing memories over a football quiz while enjoying a delicious cup of tea and refreshing ice cream in the sunshine.

☀️ Wednesday was all about keeping cool during the heatwave! Residents also enjoyed being pampered with appointments from our fantastic hairdresser Sue and relaxing massage therapy sessions.

🎶 Thursday started with more one-to-one visits before everyone gathered in the garden for a fantastic afternoon of live entertainment from the lovely Camille. It was wonderful to sing along and enjoy the music together.

💃 Friday rounded off the week with a special afternoon outing to watch a beautiful ballroom dancing show, performed by our incredibly talented hairdresser, Sue. It was a fantastic performance and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
