Do you believe everyone deserves to have their voice heard?
We are recruiting up to four Independent Advocates (up to 20 hours per week) across Exeter and East Devon, and Mid and North Devon.
Salary: £29,013 per annum (pro rata)
We want to build a team that reflects local communities, so each post is linked to a locality. However, we recognise that people and communities don’t always fit neatly into boundaries. We are therefore open to flexibility around geographical areas, split posts, and how hours are structured, and will work with successful candidates to agree arrangements that work well for both them and the people we support.
As an Independent Advocate, you will support people with learning disabilities and communication difficulties to:
• Understand their rights
• Express their views
• Make informed decisions
• Live with greater independence and confidence
You will provide one-to-one, issue-based advocacy and help establish and facilitate peer advocacy groups, enabling people to support one another and create meaningful change within their communities.
This is a community-based role. Independent Advocates are expected to work across their locality, meeting people in their homes or other community settings. The role requires regular travel within your locality, occasional visits to the Dartington office, and the ability to manage administrative tasks from home.
Whether you're an experienced advocate or have relevant experience supporting people with learning disabilities, combined with excellent communication skills, we'd love to hear from you.
