🍂 Flu & COVID Vaccination Clinics 2026 🩺

Our main Flu & COVID Vaccination Clinic will take place on:
📅 Saturday 10th October
📍 Portscatho Surgery

✅ Text message booking links will be sent to eligible patients throughout September.
✅ Flu and COVID vaccinations will be offered to patients who meet the current NHS eligibility criteria.
📱 If you receive a booking link, we kindly ask that you use it wherever possible. This helps keep our phone lines available for patients who need medical care.

🚗 We understand that transport can be challenging for some patients. Alongside our main clinic at Portscatho, we will also be holding smaller midweek clinics at our branch sites for patients who have difficulty accessing transport.

This month is Gynae Cancer Awareness Month👇

Do you know when pain might be a symptom of a gynaecological cancer?
If you have any unexplained pain for three weeks or more, then it's important to get it checked by a doctor. It's more likely to be something less serious than cancer, but it's important to get checked, just in case.

Keeping a pain diary can help you and your doctor understand more about your pain and give you the tools you need to advocate for yourself at your appointment.

⚠️🗑️ A polite request from Roseland Surgeries:

Please do not use our waste bins behind the surgery for rubbish that doesn’t belong to us, and please do not leave waste beside them.

Unfortunately, over the last month or so we’ve had a lot of waste left by the public in and around our bins. At the same time, a very busy car park and large vehicles blocking access to the rear have meant Biffa have been unable to collect our waste.

We’re a small surgery with limited resources, and this creates additional pressure for our team and impacts our ability to focus on caring for our patients.

Our bins will now be locked to prevent unauthorised use.

We’re very grateful for your understanding and for helping us keep our local surgery running smoothly.

We’ve seen lots of eclipse glasses being advertised on social media. If you’re buying or using them, make sure they’re genuine, ISO 12312-2:2015 compliant and CE marked.

Don’t use eclipse glasses if you’re not sure they’re certified, or if they’re scratched, torn or damaged.

Ordinary sunglasses are not safe for looking at a solar eclipse, even if they’re very dark.

If you can’t get eclipse glasses by Wednesday, you can still watch the eclipse safely by viewing it indirectly. Try making a simple pinhole viewer or use a colander to project the Sun’s image onto a piece of paper.

Never look directly at the Sun during the eclipse.

On 12 August, a partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK. Ordinary sunglasses - no matter how dark - allow harmful solar radiation to reach the retina and should not be used to view an eclipse.

If you want to use eclipse glasses make sure they are genuine with specially designed filters that meet the international safety standard.
