Dear Patients,

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible service to our community, we have recently reviewed our private (non-NHS) services, including our fees and charges and the range of private medicals we offer.

Following this review, there will be some changes to our pricing, and we will no longer be providing fit-to-fly certificates, extreme sports medicals, reality TV show medicals, or power of attorney forms. These decisions have been made carefully to ensure that we can focus our resources on the services that best support the needs of our patients.

💛 July is Sarcoma Awareness Month 💛

Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that can develop in the bones or soft tissues, such as muscles, fat, nerves and blood vessels.

While most lumps are not cancer, it's important to know the warning signs:
✔️ A lump larger than 5 cm (about the size of a golf ball)
✔️ A lump that is increasing in size
✔️ A lump that is painful or deep beneath the skin
✔️ Persistent or unexplained bone pain

If you notice any of these symptoms, please don't ignore them. Contact us for advice. Early diagnosis can make a real difference.

Find out more about sarcoma and its symptoms through trusted NHS and resources.

☀️ UV Safety Month – Protect Your Skin This Summer

As the weather improves, we’re all spending more time outdoors, but it’s important to stay safe in the sun. During UV Safety Month, we are sharing simple ways to protect your skin and reduce your risk of sun damage and skin cancer.

🌤️ Why UV protection matters
Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun can damage your skin even on cloudy days in the UK. Over time, this can increase the risk of sunburn, premature skin ageing, and skin cancer.

🧴 Top sun safety tips:

Spend time in the shade, especially between 11am and 3pm
Cover up with clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses
Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and 4-5 UVA stars
Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, and after swimming or sweating
Never use sunbeds - they significantly increase skin cancer risk

👶 Extra care for children
Young skin is especially sensitive. Keep babies and young children out of direct sunlight and ensure they are well protected when outdoors.

💬 Know your skin
Check your skin regularly for any new or changing moles, freckles, or marks. If you notice anything unusual, contact us for advice.

Let’s enjoy the sun safely this summer ☀️💙

💙 Group B Strep Awareness Month

Group B Streptococcus (Group B Strep) is a common bacterium that many people carry without symptoms. However, in pregnancy and in newborn babies, it can sometimes lead to serious infection.

What you should know:

Group B Strep is usually harmless in healthy adults
It can be passed from mother to baby around birth
It is not routinely tested for during pregnancy in the UK, unless there is a specific clinical reason or private testing is arranged

If you’re pregnant, speak to your midwife if you have questions about Group B Strep, especially if you have concerns or a previous history of infection.
